Default Christian Rock Channel?

I would personally like Sirius to add a Christian Rock channel. XM has one called the Torch. Christian rock is a growing genre with bands like POD, Switchfoot, Relient K, Demon Hunter, Project 86 etc. emerging. I know a lot of people who get into this stuff. And the Christian market is huge. If Sirius could add a christian rock station it could help its marketing with the christian community. Also they should try to get American Family Radio added. James Dobson has a huge following.

I agree that it would help round out the genre. Spirit is very good, but there is a hole in the lineup for Christian Rock.

There is a hole for Southern Gospel too, which I'd much rather have than Christain Rock. All the polls I've seen and FCC license that have been issued to Southern Gospel stations, not to mention music sells indicates that its more popular than Christian Rock by a long shot.

I also think Sirius plays many of those groups on Spirit, which makes it much better than XM's Torch or Fish in my opinion.

The problem with southern gospel is that mainly older people listen to it. They are much less likely to get a satellite radio. Younger people are into the christian rock and thats who want to buy satellite radio. By the way it is real rock, its not the lyrics that define the genre, its the beat.

Yeah it would be cool to have a christian rock channel on sirius. It is one of the fastest growing genres of rock. Does anyone know just how popular XM's torch is?

Only older people for Southern Gospel... Oh RIGHT! You better check the demographics again, cause you are totally wrong. That is like saying Country music is only listened by older people. The FCC has issued more new station license to Southern Gospel stations than any other for the last 2 years at least, not to mention cd sales out the roof. So, you are saying station are coming on like crazy, cd sales are out the roof, but these people won't buy sat radio? I don't buy that at all. In fact, the calls for XM to move the Enlightening Channel, which is Southern Gospel to the regular service have been very high. I suspect at some point they will do just that. But hey at least they have Southern Gospel even if you can only hear it online right now. Clearly they understand there is a market it for it.

Im not trying to get into an argument over southern gospel. Maybe Im wrong but I dont know anyone who likes southern gospel that is not much older. But go ahead and bring a southern gospel station as well as a christian rock station. It could only help the marketing towards the Christian community. Im telling you, President George Bush figured it out in the last campaign, the Christian market is HUGE but Sirius has yet to try and capitalize.

Wow I never knew James Dobson was so offensive. Ever heard of Howard Stern? Will you cancel your sub over him?

If you were so sure James Dobson was wrong you would have no reason to be upset with what he says. I mean what hurt does it have for him to say such things? You dont have to listen. Maybe the reason you would be so offended by him is that you are deep down afraid he is right. Or maybe you just have a deep hate for christian morals. Yet you see nothing wrong with Stern. Please, Dobson is harmless, even to those who hate Christians. This is such hypocrisy. Because someone teaches the Bible they should be censored. But when Howard Stern comes along its ok.

That would be okay with me.. cancel away, but that certainly is silly to me. I am going to cancel the day Stern comes on board. NOT The bottom line is that if I don't like Stern, then guess what? I won't listen to the channel he is on, but that still leaves me well over a hundred others to enjoy. You are trying to make James Dobson seem like an extremist because he believes in Jesus Christ, yet it is you that are so extreme in your own view that you are willing to giving up the whole service because of one individiual on a single channel that you aren't even being forced to listen too. Its really sad when its okay for someone such a Stern to spew his message, but its not okay for someone that is Christian to spew their message. If you don't think there is a heaven or hell then what is the problem? Perhaps you think the first amendment only applies to people like Howard Stern.

One of your points hit the nail on the head. I just won't say which one as I'm sure it would offend you.
