TX, as far as censored and uncensored goes, I remember you mentioned HBO Family in a previous post. I agree with that idea, but probably not in the way you mentioned.

Look at HBO. You have HBO Family that you know you can play for the kids whenever, but they also play kids movies and other everybody fare on the regular HBOs as well. However, they also play Tony Soprano and softcore porn. The point being that if you do let your kids watch HBO, you need to depend on your own discretion and not be out of the room when the TV switches to a rerun of Cathouse.

So it should be with Sirius. Nobody is saying kids should only be able to listen to Kids Stuff and Radio Disney. They're saying that parental discretion should be used when outside of those channels. Since Sirius tells you who's playing, this shouldn't be a great problem.

You know that Hip Hop Nation is going to have swearing. You know that Bluegrass won't.

The others should be fine and a parent should feel ok that they are not going to hear anything that they would not want thier child to hear. The rest of the channels should be ok, as long as the DJ's on these channels don't drop the F-Bomb we are fine.

I just think that they should mark the channles that aren't censored so that parents will know
That is why I want all the channels where there might be fould language marked. Not calling for any more channels to be censored, I just don't see why they need to drop the F-Bomb on Starlite.

What is so hard to understand about marking the channels where you might have foul language?

I hate the idea that anything is being censored on Sirius, especially since I am paying for the service.
Does XM censor any channels?
This would be a great ad campaign for XM. We don't allow our channels to be censored.

They have channels that are marked for XL the rest are family friendly. Sirius should do the same.

I'd like them to mark the ones that are "G" rated.

They should use a rating system... MA PG-13.... for each song or channel then you can block all you need with one step. Same way with most US cable boxes today. They curse with f-bombs all the time on basic cable late night movies and specials. How do they allow that for basic cable??

Why should we have ratings at all? SIRIUS or XM shouldn't have censored channels to begin with.

If you want family friendly...go to FM.

Totally agree 100 %
Keep contacting Sirius on how you feel- Instead of calling customer service- maybe we should start calling Sirius in NY direct to voice our opinion

I would pay good money to hear uncensored music. Anyone try listening to your average Rage Against the Machine song on FM? It sounds like the damn CD is skipping on the edited version.

I would not have in Issue with a ratings system by channel, DIRECTV, Cable and DISH do this for each program that isn't already rated. DIRECTV has something like MA-Language or MA-Nudity (which obviously wouldn't be an issue on radio but I digress).

Having said all this, the streams that are being censored are ones that I don't listen to on a regular basis, if at all. It wouldn't affect me personally, but then this service wasn't made to cater to 'just me.'

I am guessing that you want Sirius to fail since a good portion of people have kids. Some people want commercial free music that is why I signed up in 2002. I also appreciate that the music is not censored on most of the channels. But when you have children in the car, you want to know what to expect. No one is saying that all the channels need to be censored; most people don't want that at all.

I do not think that it is too much to ask Sirius to mark which channels aren't censored, and what channels we may hear the DJ drop the F-Bomb.

There are channels that kids can listen to, but I am one of those who want to hear uncensored channels. If I wanted to hear a lot of censored stuff, then I will listen to terrestrial radio (perish the thought).

Kids now a days know a lot of the words and "adult situations" that everyone is trying to censor anyway. Today's kids are not as innocent as some would like to think.

I want my satellite radio uncensored!

My kids are both pre-schoolers and I do not want to be stuck listening to kids channles all the time.
Certain channels need to remain family friendly, including his 1.

I expect as my kids get older, they will be exposed to more things. I have already spoken to the 3 year old about "grown-up" words and so on but that doesn't mean she needs to hear it constantly on the radio.

When the kids aren't in the car, I listen to backspin and other channels.

I don't need a ratings system for every song. But, maybe some kind of marker by the channel name and an option to block channels would be nice.

I don't want commercials and that is why we have satellite radio (although it came to our attention via a christmas gift).

Do not underestimate the market when it comes to people driving their kids around.

Most, if not all radios have options to block channels out independantly. If you allow your children to listen to Eminem, they're going to hear swearing (among other things). You know that you will hear family programming on Disney - Hits 1 - the Pulse.
