I have sent a snail mail out to Sirius on this. Anyone here who hasn't yet done so should do so now. They need to be flooded with paper. That's something executives understand. It's all too easy for the office girl who reads their email to hit the Delete key.

Be sure to use phrases like "bait and switch", impress upon them the fact that you're not paying them money to hear what's on FM for free, and mention "breach of contract" and "deceptive advertising practices" while you're at it.

This shit stops now!

What doesn't make sense to me is they will play one song censored, then the next song will be uncensored.
I have noticed this mainly when listening to Alt Nation.

Lets keep those letters going to Jay Clark.

This is the last response I got from an email to CS.

Thank you for contacting SIRIUS. We appreciate the time that you have
taken to write us regarding edited songs on Alt Nation. We are always
happy to help!
Our goal at SIRIUS is to make the listening experience enjoyable to all
of our many and diverse subscribers. We strive to deliver an
entertaining mix of both family-friendly and over-18 programming. To
that end, we occasionally air edited versions of certain songs that may
be inappropriate to families listening with young children. This
practice only affects select music channels and a relatively small
number of songs in our vast library. The majority of our music channels
remain completely unedited and we remain committed to delivering the
best music possible to every subscriber. We hope that it will not
impact
your SIRIUS listening experience in a major way.
We certainly appreciate all feedback and thank you, once again, for
taking the time to send us your comments!

We are committed to providing you with the best in customer care. If
you have any more questions, please feel free to contact SIRIUS
Customer
Care. For your convenience, we are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a
week at:

As well as by email at:

Heard "What I Got" by Sublime this morning on Alt-Nation unedited. It's always edited on terrestrial radio. May have been another fluke, but hopefully it's a step in the right direction.

We can end the censorship if we just let them know of our displeasure. In fact, call 212-584-5100 and get the dial-by-name directory. Get Scott Greenstein's voicemail and tell him. He's one of the bigwig's there who control it.

Should we now just call SIRIUS, FM Satellite Radio?

I haven't made any sat purchase yet, but will be making XM my first (and only if these censorship issues stick around).

No, FM doesn't have the selection, the talent, or the commercial-free music that Sirius has. And remember, 98% of the channels that shouldn't be censored are not.

As opposed to 100 percent? Even 2 percent of the channels censored are 2 percent too many. Especially considering these aren't 'family oriented' channels and anyone listening would almost expect to hear explicit content.

What you seem to have overlooked is that XM also has channels that are edited (censored). I am not sure how many, but probably about the same number as Sirius. There will always be these channels on Sat Radio as they have to appeal to the masses not just to those that want to hear filth.

In my experience any channel not marked XL is radio-edit/family friendly. Start adding them up, it comes to more than just 4 that have been passed around as being radio-edit on Sirius.
