Sprint should not control Sirius, Sirius should decide on its content and then Sprint can either play it or not.

I mean its like 4 extra channels, one modern rock, one hip hop, one punk/rap and First Wave, which I don't know a whole lot of songs that will need to be censored on FW, but i'm sure the first time I hear one that is I won't like it.

I wonder what Howard would say about this ? I mean if they going to do this to these channels what would keep them from doing it to Howard ?

The thing about censorship is once it starts it never stops. The part I really don't like is that they made this change behind the scenes like we wouldn't notice or care. Shame on you Mel. We are smarter then that.

Atleast you could have warned us it was coming.

I don't want my music censored, but there needs to be "some" family friendly channels.

That is my point, I expect to hear the F-Bomb on Shade 45, but if I heard it on Movin Ez and I had my son with me I would be upset.

Sirius needs to disclose the channels that have XL in them.

If you have Dish Network and get sirius they do tell you which ones are. PLUS YOUR RECEIVER HAS A LOCKS OPTION (both DN and Sirius) SO USE IT.

Only by Nine Inch Nails is now censored on Alt Nation.... which totally ruined that song.

There is no question that I will not pay for edited music. If they edit I will leave. And the friends at work that I almost have talked into subscribing will surely feel the same.

So you guys that are "against radio edits" are you talking about all edits, including the Pop songs that play on Radio Disney and were edited by the record company for FM?

Surely you see the need to have some family friendly channels?

No one is suggesting that they censor The Hip Hop, Rap, and Alternative Channels. I even like Outlaw because it's for adults.

I've been thinking, perhaps they came to a deal with Sprint that only a percentage is censored as I'm seeing posts that some songs aren't. It still sucks, but $$ speaks louder than any email or letter you send if you know what I mean.

I think some people are worried about them censoring all of the channels. This isn't going to happen.

I just got off the phone with Sirius.
They advised me that the censoring of certain channels was temporary as far as they know (related to the Sprint partnership). The CSR told me that a lot of complaints have come in and they are taking them seriously. He advised me that the censorship will only be temporary.
I sure hope he was not BS'ing me.

I would love to believe that, but SIRIUS CSRs are not exactly known for being 100% correct all the time.

Actually, they ARE censoring some of that material already.

And, no, I dont see the need for family friendly channels that aren't "Family" channels, like Chad's examples. Most pop is pretty tame and there's always classical, jazz and many other options like Bluegrass and the Christian streams, NPR, PRI, Cracked Up, News... There are a lot of family options, and I personally really don't want a service designed for 7 year olds.

You are right there, they may just be saying that to keep people from canceling. But, it's always good to think optimistically.

BTW, your Avatar, that's a little innapropriate and offensive. We're gonna need you to take that down (although MM has requested we get more anime action).

I merely said that I liked it. It's better than the crushing head thing he had before.

Yeah, there's nothing that turns me on than an animated image of some anime character with huge jugs bouncing up and down

Anyways, the channels that should be censored are the ones that are family friendly by nature....Disney, kids, cracked up, most of the talk channels, jazz, classical, 50s, 60s, Elvis, ect. Even pop is usually pretty tame.
