That is exactly what I am saying.

Channels that I think should be marked XL, and remain uncensored

19-20-21-22-23-24-25-26-27-28-30-36-40-42-43-44-50-51-52-61-62-63-66-68-90-91-92-97-98-99-145-147-148-149-181-182

The others should be fine and a parent should feel ok that they are not going to hear anything that they would not want thier child to hear. The rest of the channels should be ok, as long as the DJ's on these channels don't drop the F-Bomb we are fine.

I just think that they should mark the channles that aren't censored so that parents will know

if the parents dont like it then they can cover the kids tender ears or just stick to am/fm

we are not just talking about little kids - i do not want to hear the f-word, ever.

however, i was not listening to music that would have the f-word in the songs, to begin with. so i would be angry to have the djs use that sort of language. but they never did.

for people who need expletives in their music, there are channels for them. and it makes sense to me to then have the ability to have satellite radio, but be able to delete those channels so their kids can't listen to them, should parents desire it.

i do have to laugh at the concept of "needing to add vulgarity to a song for an artist to give it its full meaning". what sort of meaning is that ? that they can't sing or play instruments, so their only ability to make money is to say stuff that is typically thought of as objectionable to the mainstay of society ?

I'm going to agree with TX, if they used the "XL" system like XM does then I believe that would attract more families and I don't think it would deter anyone from purchasing it.

I dont understand why sirius didnt use a XL system from the very beginning when the service went live looks like now they will have to
not too many people will be sticking around for edited music

I'd say most people stay, in fact I'd go as far to say only a tiny fraction will leave. And we still don't know if this is permanent, although we can probably guess so.

gymeet misses the whole point of being free to have your music say whatever you want it too. He doesn't EVER want to hear the f-word so that means none of us should hear it. I don't think it's about the need to add vulgar words to songs, its freedom of expression, which you don't seem to have a problem doing. The same right that gives you the ability to express your opinion is the same one that applies to artist being able to use the f-word. If you don't like those channels then don't listen to them, but keep your freaking paws off of them for the rest of us.

It always amazes me how you always have folks like this that want to everyone else to live by their value system.

I do agree that marking the channels is the way it should be done, so folks like gymeet can't add those channels to his skip list, but censoring all channels isn't likely to happen. I also don't have a problem with them having a certain sect of channels that are uncensored because folks like gymeet (and I assure you he isn't the only one) should have channels to hear that don't use the bad words they don't want to hear, but this shouldn't ever be done across the whole service. There are also parents out there that have children that they do not want to expose them to this type uncensored programming.

I have almost $500 invested in Sirius equipment for the home and car. That was way too much of an investment for me to switch to XM which I have no interest in doing (Sirius is by far the leader...)

Alt Nation, Faction, Rap music by nature is a little offensive. If you don't want to hear offensive language in these songs, why are you listening?

I think a massive letter-writing/e-mail campaign... sponsored by SBS would be a big help.

This is one day I'm not proud to say I'm from the city Sprint was born in... (besides the Kansas City Royals )

No, that is not the purpose of sat radio- the purpose is to appeal to a vast array of radio fans, not every radio fan wants the f bomb, and 4 letter adjectives on every channel. Some music genres are bound to be filled with certain types of words, but every channel doesnt have to have that. Choice is where there is something for everyone. I believe in offering both censored and uncensored channels.

It isn't the unedited channels that need to be marked, its the ones that aren't.

I agree with AZJoe, there has to be edited and unedited channels, because Sirius has to appeal to the masses, not just those that want to hear unedited stuff. But I do agree those channels that will be doing unedited versions, need to be marked as such in some way.

Sirius not only needs to be friendly to those that like unedited choices, but to those that want a service to reflect family values. I have no problem with that.

that is exactly what i said, az. good minds think alike. i don't want to hear that sort of vulgarity, so i chose not to listen to those channels. i will say that sirius never used that vulgarity on those channels, either. (basically the oldie channels)
