Default SIRIUS is Censored.

our partnership with Sprint means some of our music channels will be offering censored music on channels: Faction(28), Alt Nation(21), First Wave(22), and Hot Jamz(50).

an email we just recived, when it says offering, i don't know if that is temporary or if you can choose it. but if it means that these are cencored
please call this line to express your oppinions 877-337-4748 (request line) select the channel you would like and voice your opinion

I'm also slightly confused on what it means by "offering". Anyways, this is extremely stupid. I can't imagine Hot Jamz or Faction being censored.

I have noticed that every song on Hot Jamz recently has been censored and it pisses me off! I'm not paying for censored music that I could get on FM.

That said, I'm not going to be giving up my subscription anytime soon, but it still pisses me off to no end to hear songs use the reverses, skips, and other methods of censorship in songs.

WTF? How could you possibly censor Faction? Just try to imagine a censored version of Bam's show...the running time would probably be around 7 minutes. If they want censored then just play Maxim Radio.

Wasn't aware of that thread there (don't visit that forum much). I say screw Sprint, people are going to start leaving and they are going to be loosing more money than that Sprint deal will ever give them. I don't listen to these channels much but it still blows my mind that they would get rid of one of their advantages they have on FM.

What a bunch of

We all need to write letters to:

Jay Clark
Executive Vice President, Programming
1221 Avenue of the Americas
New York, NY 10020

Don't e-mail - they're too easy to delete.

Don't call - customer service reps have no power.

Write an old fashioned paper letter. I really think that the letters that have been sent helped with the repetition problem - maybe this can be fixed too.

I got a response from Jay Clark via email (granted it was a different subject) just make sure you put in there you are an SBS member because he knows that you'll be telling people if you got a response or not. Writing letters are more effective though, but it wouldn't hurt to do both.

As far as this being fixed, this is obviously Sprint making them do this so you may even want to write to Sprint.

What email? From whom, Sprint or Sirius? Can you paste it for us? Was there an explanation for the need to censor the streams? Frankly, it seems odd Sirius would compromise itself for this deal -- streamed audio to cellphones is still an iffy technology with a dubious business model (Enough bandwidth for stereo? Will phone users upgrade to stereo earphones? What about signal dropouts, battery life and the cost of airtime/minutes to the customer?)

Sprint can't make them do crap if they didn't agree to do it. Apparently they agreed to do it because that is what Sprint wanted, so they basically sold out.

Why not publish what his response is for all of us to see.

Yes, now that I think about it that would be right DAB.

Jay Clarks response to soundscapes? (This was a day before Jeff hinted at its return).

"Thanks for the heads up"

I listen to Faction once in a while, but this is pure BS. I even have Sprint PCS as my wireless phone carrier. I think it's time to switch phone companies...I've been interested in Cingular lately anyway and I totally like the new black RAZR.

I think that Sirius should mark the Un-Censored Channels like XM does. We need both.

For the record I think that the Un-Censored Channels should be

19 - Buzz Saw
20- Octane
27- Hard Attack
28 - Faction
30 - Reggae Rhythms
36 - Outlaw Country
40- Hip Hop Nation
42- Wax
43- Back Spin
44 - Shade 45
50 - Hot Jamz
61- Boombox
62 - Remix
63- Area 63
147 - Raw Dog

Are you kidding? That would defeat the whole bloody purpose of having satellite radio. EVERY music channel should be uncensored. The only "censored" ones should be the kids, religious, and the news/television channels that are already broadcast that way.
