i don't know if you are aware of dylan in that you have done much reading about him. but if not, the concept of god and stuff was not only evident in some of his music (with god on our side), but in his personal struggles - he converted to christianity from judaism, and then back to judaism at a later point. i haven't followed him much for the past 25 years, so i don't know much about what he is now, or what he thinks about that topic.

but i have no doubts that he went thru trials and tribulations attempting to find connections with both of those mindsets.

in some of the articles that i read, john lennon was participating along with george, in the hk movement. and it seems to me that "give peace a chance" was all about promoting peace and tolerance, no matter what mindset you had about topics. being that george was amidst all of this, it would not surprise me in the least that "my sweet lord" also had that sort of deeper meaning to it.

Personally, I think it's great to have Christian music on a mainstream station. Not to play a song because it's by a Christian artist to me is censorship. If you are one of those who are a proponent of censorship, I would ask you to be consistent an not censor Christian music from a mainstream station.

We're not asking Sirius to censor it, we're asking Sirius to play it on the channel which is specifically designated for that purpose.

could someone please post the words to this song.

i guess the question is - if a song qualifies to play on the christian channel, should it not be played on other channels ?

well clearly there are songs that qualify to play on more than 1 channel.

so if this song happens to be played by other media in other than a christian channel, that it could also be played by sirius on other than a christian channel.

if it is only played as a christian song by other media, then it should probably only play on a sirius christian channel.

They better stop playing "How Great Thou Art" by Elvis Presley and all of his other gospel selections on the Elvis Presley channel. After all that station is in the POP category. They need to leave that song on the Elvis Presley Christian Channel. What station number is that again? 1046?

Oh, this time Lord you gave me a mountain.

Some people crack me the fuck up.

Uh oh..........Lord and fuck in the same post.

Censor me please.

Pretty funny 88,

There is even an occasional "god song" that sneaks into Country Music.

I guess that the same people who are afraid of hearing a song that mentions god on a "mainstream" stream are equally worried about a "gay" song or a "black" song played on a "straight" stream or a "white" stream.

Now, if the stream was an anti-god stream I could understand the complaint. But this is a silly complaint.

Besides which, how do you define Christian (or any other religion) music?

Consider Neil Peart, avowed atheist and lyricist for Rush. Yet it's not difficult to find Scriptural/Liturgical references (of varying levels of obscurity) in his lyrics:

"Absalom, Absalom, Absalom!" -- Distant Early Warning

"It's the power and the glory..." -- The Big Money

Song Title: Jacob's Ladder (though it could be secondhand, given his penchant for meteorology)

Is anything that makes reference to the Bible (or any other Volume of Sacred Law) religious?

Well, if he's an athiest clearly he shouldn't bis work shouldn't be on "mainstream" streams. Keep him on the athiest streams!

If your looking for Sirius to censor Christian channels I would hope you're also petioning Sirius to censor Hard Attack, Octane, etc for playing Black Sabbath, Slayer, and other "mainstream" groups that promote satan worship (no offense, I listen to them as well). For that matter I find swing music repulsive for those outfits the ladies wear (not really ).

At this rate we're all going to listening to Martha Stewart 24/7 on all 120 channels. Oh wait, I apologize to all those vegitarians out there. All of a sudden the bandwidth is opening up for traffic channels for all cities nationwide.

They're not "jabs". They're accurate assessments of your poor reading comprehension skills.

I'm not being sarcastic at all. As a person who has taught and tutored for decades, and has sold educational materials to numerous schools--I am TELLING YOU that you have obvious reading comprehension problems. That is a PROFESSIONAL assessment.

Your large but fragile ego can't handle the plain truth.

And having a degree in computer science, and a background in math and physics is absolutely irrelevant. Many students who score high on the mathematical portion of their SAT's, often perform poorly on the reading comprehension portion.

Your logically fallacious reasoning and excuses show a lack of concreteness in your arguments.

I'm not interested in your fantasy interpretation of the song.

Judging Harrison by his own words, by the link that YOU provided, it is obvious that he was merely propagandizing in behalf of Hare Krishna.

He admitted he was trying to "trick" and "sneak up" on Christians, and to "lull them into a false sense of security". It is obvious to anybody with common sense that the "Lord" he spoke of was of the Hare Krishna variety, since he chants the names of various gurus, but nowhere in the song is ANY mention of Jesus Christ or any other figure in the Christian Bible.

So you can continue to adhere to your Forest Gump fantasy interpretation of the song, but more intellectually astute individuals aren't buying your rubbish.
