Default Rolling Stones Take Over A Channel

http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/050822/nym146.html?.v=19

i know i will be avoiding this channel, but i guess it will be pretty popular, at least while they're touring.

The many Stones fans will be loving this channel.

They are causing quite a stir here in Mass. They are playing in Fenway and the stage is huge. You can here it if you are outside the stadium. It will definately be cheaper!!

Interesting. I don't know why they couldn't replay the concerts themselves though. I'll give it a try. Again it is this kind of programming that sets satellite radio apart from FM/AM/HD Radio!

Good for Sirius. I won't be listening in, but I am sure that someone will.

I think its a cool idea. Its only a week long so its not like its going to oversaturate a channel or take up bandwidth. I personally prefer programming like this or other special events vs. giving an act their own channel (elvis being the exception). I'll definatly give it a listen.

Here is what the official announcement says. I don't see where it will be taking over 8 channels. Only ONE Channel 99.

WHAT???? That sucks bigtime. My favorite Sirius programs, Celtic Crush and Soundscapes are on Horizons, and are way more important to me than a mainstream rock music group. Why don't they keep this stuff in the Rock category where fans of it would expect to find it?!?

Well it appears on the surface that you are correct those things will be preempted, but we'll have to wait and see. I am like you I love my Soundscapes and will be very pissed if they don't have it on in order to play the burned out Rolling Stones. But it is only one weekend. If they would just bring back a damn Ambient/New Age channel we wouldn't have to worry about this crap.

You are correct, I missed that. But maybe by some chance it won't be on those times and days when Soundscapes is suppose to be on. Chances are those programs probably will be preempted, but we'll see.

I am only mildly interested in the Stones at this point but may check it out. Of course, I think it would be mistake to displace some of the regulars shows. But I do think this is innovative programming by Sirius that could attract new baby boomer listeners.
