There is nothing wrong with that link. Customers have a right to voice thier opinions to the people that make these decisions.

I have never listened to the Word network, but I do not think that there is anything wrong with the people that do voicing their opinions to Jay Clark.

ntilly, please quite responding to these people and dragging the threads off topic. Enough is enough now!
I was making a joke, an elitest liberal joke. When you have people like pat robertson and james dobson people like me hafta make jokes to say sane but, I digress.

All I'm saying is most of the hardcore christains are in the south, the poorest part of the country. Sirius should be gearing its programming to younger demo 18-54...

Enough of the baiting. For you and anyone that doesn't have anything to say that is on topic, get off of the thread.

Here's something thats "on topic".

The entire concept of "christian rock" is just plain silly, if not absurd. The whole idea of "rock n roll" is something that's inherently anti-establishment. Think the Beatles' long hair and Elvis' gyrating hips. Think Zeppelin and the Sex Pistols. Think Janis Joplin and Kurt Cobain.

If you need to get your Goodtime-Jesus-Feelies by listening to lame bands of "Christians with a Message and a Distortion Pedal", then go right ahead and enjoy your little channel. But please - it's not "Rock".

I won't argue that it shouldn't exist on Sirius or any other medium - I'll just take your sage advice and not listen.

I'll find my own spiritual nourishings elsewhere - through introspection, contemplation, weekly mass, and prayer.

Don't kid yourself... It's a product, nothing more, and you're among the first in line to buy it. Lucky you!

Judging others that enjoy this music based upon your religious views is off topic for this thread. Thanks for offering not to listen and please stick to threads that you actually have an interest in.

Endless, since this music isn't for you, move to another thread where you have some interest.

You know, I listen to jazz. I dont like or listen to hard rock, rap, opera, country or several other genres - but you dont see me on those threads criticizing the music. In fact, I dont see anyone who doesnt like those types of music on those threads criticizing the music. Typically Sirius subscribers are all about options and choices - you listen to what you want to and I'll listen to what I want. It's what makes Sirius so great to have all the choices for every type of music fan. Makes you wonder why it is SO important for atheists to criticize Christian rock? It wouldnt be because they are biased and have an agenda would it? If you think about it, it may be psychological. They must have some reservations, doubts, and unease about their atheistic beliefs to feel the need to protest SO much.

hi ld,

i think the main problem here, even if we were to get rid of any religious bias, is coming up with a definition of "good" or "talented", when referring to a band.

most people equate those terms with whether they like the band or not. i am sure i was guilty of that at some point in my life. but with age, hopefully comes some wisdom.

i think to answer the question "is someone musically talented" - takes someone with musical talent themselves. lets say we are discussing if john smith is a good guitar player. neither one of us has any idea, unless we also know how to play the guitar. we would not know the level of difficulties that john smith could or could not overcome. all we would know is if "we liked what we were hearing".

now luckily, i do know someone who is very musically oriented, so i can get at least some sort of factually based answers, along with the personal biases that we all have. for example, i have been told that i enjoy "simple" music, not complex - which is part of the reason why i like melodies and do not like improvisations and such that you might hear in jazz.

when i listen to a singer, i can make some sort of judgment about their abilities by listening to their range, etc. but there are some singing styles, such as r&b, that i intensely dislike, no matter who is singing. so i typically will say that it sounds like said singer may have a real good singing voice, but i would need to listen to said singer singing a song and style that i like, so i can compare it to other singers. in doing this, i am more apt to be able to have a fair comparison of that singer with other singers.

but i guess to make a short point long, very few of the sbsers, including myself, have enough musical talent ourselves, to have any idea whether some other band is talented, or not. but we might have a decent idea whether the band will be popular with the masses or not.

Default I like the additions...

Sorry for those of you who don't like the changes. I didn't like losing some of my channels awhile back either. One of them came back with "Spa73." I am still waiting for a solely chamber music channel (fat chance).

I don't understand the rants against the new X-ian music channel. Did X-ian subscribers rant as loudly when Stern was signed? Where are the petitions to stop "Raw Dog" and "Maxim"?

Sirius (as well as XM) is market driven. Therefore, we now have another X-ian music channel. We also will get fart jokes, Bababooie, and Gary the Retard in January.

To those who lost your favorite music, write the ownership, vote with your wallets. If there is enough of you who wanted it, you could get your own channel dedicated to the delicate sounds of the Swiss Flugelhorn.

Anyhow, I was the lucky one. I didn't lose any of the channels I listen to. Yay, Sirius.
