The professionals at Sirius obviously know a lot more about the music business than you think.

Exactly...people live in thier own little world of hating Christian music and think everyone is like that. They dont realize Christian music is one of the biggest of the music industry.

Christian (Christianity) & industry; should never be used in the same sentence. In any form or manner.

It is a divertion from the root of what religion is.

I’m not so sure anyone is “hating” christian music. I think they’re mad that SIrius added it when hardly anyone was asking for it. I hear you say you were asking for it, but that seems to be after the fact. The top genres being requested here have been Funk, New-age, Punk, and 90s-music.

Really? Wow who are you? Are you able to read customer response to Sirius? This forum does not rep the majority of Sirius subs.

I can't stand christian rock. To me it's like non-alcoholic beer with sugar and cream.

Its funny how people love rock music unless it has that one word in front of it. Evanecsense, Chevelle, P.O.D., Switchfoot...all of these bands started out as "Christian rock bands" and they are very popular. Though Chevelle turned away when they became real famous. But the point is they were a Christian band when they became popular. The word Christian should have nothing to do with whether or not it is good music. The MUSIC should have everything to do with it.

Duke Ellington said it best when people were trying to categorize his music:

"There are only two kinds of music--good and bad."
Duke Ellington (1899-1974)

If it is good, it will sell.....

EXACTLY!!! Those were bands that made it big in the industry because they are GOOD.

Most of the Christian rock bands are CRAP, that's why they never make it into the mainstream.

Merely your opinion and nothing else.

There are a lot of non-religious people who think most secular bands are CRAP, including many of the mainstream groups!

i am sure i would not like christian rock any more than i do any other form of current rock.

but i would also bet that the statement could be made about most bands of any genre. most christian bands were not good, and did not make it. dont you think the same could be said of all the other rock categories ?

how many bands never made it versus how many did ?

and even that is not totally concrete - because unfortunately it has a lot more to do with who you know than how good you are.

there are tons of people who are probably better musicians than the ones who become famous.

Simply put, if you are a good rock musician, you don't need to sing praises to God to become famous. Hence the prejudice against "Christian" rock here.

This is where you don't get it. These musicians sing praise to GOD not to become famous though many have, but to worship and praise him. Most of them do it because they feel led to do so. Of course I wouldn't expect you to understand that as it is clearly beyond anything a closed mind can fathom.

I also agree that many of those Christian Bands are a heck of a lot better musicians that many that have become famous. Becoming famous is no indicator as to a bands talent. Being famous and getting rich for most of these band isn't why they do it. Again, probably beyond your ability to understand.

i also think that it could be the other way around. Maybe a band that isn't good enought to make it in the regular charts, may start selling themselves to the Christian crowd inorder to pick up some steam.

Thanks for the compliments, father! Now, can I expect a free copy of the bible in my mailbox to broaden my mind and enhance my understanding?
It is so painfully obvious that the huge majority of the so-called "Christian" bands just can't write and perform well, and can only get audience from church goers and evangelists, who will buy or listen to anything that has the word "God" in the lyrics. Just like those "artists" in North Korea who praise the Great Leader - Christian bands in the US are the exact equivalent of these quasi artists that are simply on The Party (church here) payroll. If any of them are really good, they break away from the "Christian" definition, and become mainstream. The vast majority of them don't, that's why "The Revolution" channel is coming. They should put "Incompetent rock from wannabe bands" in the channel description.
