Default Sirius Shuffle- What A Waste Of Bandwith

---ALL ACCESS reported that SIRIUS' new channel lineup included a "JACK-FM"-like "SUPER SHUFFLE" channel, and the company has now confirmed that the channel will debut on SEPTEMBER 29. The channel will shuffle together songs from all 65 of SIRIUS' music channels, and the information on the receiver's screen will include a note on to which channel a subscriber can tune to hear music in the same genre as the song playing on the "shuffle" channel.----

So you'll get to hear Pulse music mixed with Faction mixed with Shade 45 music mixed with Area 63 mixed with Standards....

Talk about a waste of channel space. Do you really need to tune to this to find out what music plays across the music channels?

It might not be such a bad idea. I dont know just have to wait and see. It could be used to introduce people to different channels. But you may right. I could be the biggest joke on the Sirius dial.

I kindof like the idea. It seems like it will open my eyes to a lot of stations that I might not listen to. I tend to let my radio get stuck on one station for long periods. I personally am looking forward to it.

As much as I hate the content on the Jack-FM-type stations (it's still a mix of top-40) I do like the idea of a "channel of channels" that plays pieces of everything available. It may definitely turn some people on to new formats.

I really like this idea, not a waste of space at all. By putting what channel you can hear music like this on it widens people's listening range, which means they're more likely to stay.

Sounds like a trainwreck. It doesn't sound like the traditional "Jack" FM Formats because those are really rock leaning fomats. This sounds like they are just taking the best songs of everything. The TSL will be down on this channel. Your average Joe knows where the Country stations are. Most people are not that musically diverse to sit through classic rock mixed into rap mixed into dance mixed into soft ac mixed into Elvis mixed into jazz mixed into R&B etc...

I have to agree with TX, although my initial reaction is not positive.

Default I'll Tell Ya What a Waste of Channel Space is...

having Chill AND Spa 73 in the lineup. Dump Chill and put a Chill specialty show on Spa 73 and then a channel can be freed up in the dance category for Remix. Remix IS the BEST dance channel on sirius. I would say there are two channels wasting space on in the dance category, Boombox and Chill. Both need to go and have a 24/7 mix channel in their place! C'mon SIRIUS!

I think it might be a good idea. I want to see how much time each genre gets though. Rap and Dance/trance music are likely not to get that much playing time. Rock, pop, and R&B most likely will get a lot more time then any other genre. But we will have to wait and see.

The more I think about it the more I believe this is NOT a good idea. But I am willing to give it a chance. I just dont think people will want to tune in to this channel. They will want to tune into the channel that plays the type of music they like not one thats a hit and miss.
