We've lost channels in the past and people bitch, but that goes away eventually. Some will cancel over the changes, some will subscribe that might not have. It all works out in the end. I personally like the changes and these particular changes are okay by me.

Well, if you think the majority of customers have been listened to, why don't you talk to ABOLLA, or just visit the Hip-Hop & R&B forum, the Dance forum, or the Jazz, Classical, Latin & World forum.
News Flash...every one of these forums represents a minority of the listeners of Sirius. Even if you put them all together you wouldnt get a majority.

If you think Sirius is suppose to represent a majority of all its listeners on each of its 65 music channels, then there would be no other programming outside of rock/pop. There is a reason there are many channels, its called niche programming- offering a little bit of most everything to a WIDE variety of musical tastes. Sirius is suppose to offer programming not available on terrestrial radio- and not always what the majority want. If the majority want basically rock/pop- then they can get it on free radio. Certainly you wouldnt expect 65 channels of rock and pop would you? Thus, there is alot of rock and pop offered- and should be. But, on the other hand the minority, needs to be offered what they want- since minority-niche programming is what attracts a huge percentage to Sirius. Getting what you cant get on terrestrial radio is a lure and magnet and the numbers do add up- when offered on a nation wide service such as satellite radio. If 51% want rock & pop, do you screw the other 49% just because youre the majority? I think not.

I absolutely agree with you AZJoe...The purpose of my post was simply to make the case that Sirius has satisfied the majority of their listeners in the recent channel change.

Default Channel Shakeup

Sirius doesn`t care about it`s black audience.Whenever there is a change it`s the black stations that take the hit so it can add more rock channels.

Sorry, but that is a bunch of shit.

They take away channels that are least listened to or they feel that there is another channel that is somewhat equivelant, in the past they have replaced channels with something rather simillar. Sirius even came out with a commercial targeted at the black audience for Shade45.

sorry but shade 45 is geared towards middle class suburban white kids.....

I think he is talking about losing wax and not having a dedicated black talk channel.

Ha, that may be true.

Still, just because they don't have those doesn't mean they don't care about the black audience.

I am a 35+ black man,I have 2 channels geared towards me and they dont play what I want to hear.Compared to 17 rock channels that covers everything a rock fan wants to hear.I do not listen to shady45 I do not like hip-hop I feel Sirius is very one sided in thier programing.

Well, v1, sorry to hear you are un-happy, but if you don't like it then don't give Sirius your money. Simple as that.

I belive a change in the lineup is a good thing. Sometimes adding something new is good, it keeps things fresh. That doesn't mean that the removal of certain channels is always gonna make some people mad. Sirisu can not always please everyone at once. I think they are trying things out still and XM is doing the samething as well. Even cable and sattelite providers do a channel lineup change once in awhile. I like the idea of the new stations but I am dissapointed to see Folktown going away soon. Oh well I will find other channels to listen to in place of Folktown.

As usual, the best place for information about Sirius is right here! There are threads in the Blog forum about the new lineup, and a few people are hosting pictures of the new lineup. Otherwise, USAToday had a big ad in this weekends edition.

I think SISO's blog has good lineup info as does littleradioboy's.

Thanks for the plug RR, but my blog is closed. Didn't have the lineup on it anyways.

You can also see the lineup here:
