As I said upthread, I like DJs and want them to stay. But it's not reasonable for people to define what satellite radio is or isn't and expect others to agree with them or exit the conversation. I can just as easily say, put lots of commercials on Sirius, if you don't like it, get an iPod, this is Radio.

Just because lots of folks like DJs doesn't make them less of an annoyance for those who don't or make those folks an any less valid part of the debate.
The only people to define what Sirius is, is what they are calling themselves....Satellite Radio. NOT Satellite Music Jukebox.

That is a fact that is not part of a debate.

Enjoy

Give me the DJ's. I've listened to DJ less channels on XM, and they get stale quick. The DJ's on Sirius are top notch for the most part, and keep it relevant and short, and makes listening more interesting.

I like some of the DJs. The ones on Ch.17// Jam_ON are fairly informative and don’t seem the least bit annoying to me. If people are annoyed with specific on-air personalities, they should be named. Yeah, I wish Sirius would drop Madison in the nearest polluted body of water. But that doesn’t mean they should all go. For the most part, I like hearing the DJs more than the station-ID filler messages. I’d like to witness the end of all station-ID messages because most of them ruin the after-feel of the previously-played music.

Get an iPod? I've got an iPod, and then I got Sirius because I wanted unlimited variety. They aren't the same thing, so that's not a valid argument. If you were to say, subscribe to some other satellite radio company that doesn't have DJ's or commercials, I would. I'm still waiting for that company to arrive.

I'm curious as to know what DJ's you all find entertaining. The only ones that I ever listen to for an extended period of time, are the guys on Maxim and Shade 45. Maxim is more of a talk station anyway, so that's fine. The guys on Shade 45 are just so obscene once in awhile, that it almost makes you want to listen just to see how far they will take it.

I would agree with you about offensive off-topic posts.

But what we're talking about is a post that discusses Sirius Radio. Funny but I thought that is what this board is about.

Why would you want to discourage open and honest disussion about Sirus Radio? You must be one of those thin-skinned Sirius apologists that are all for free speech as long as it it postive as it relates to Sirius.

The only way to kill threads on this subject, which I think is a valid topic for discussion, is to tell any new users of this forum that it is not a subject that is up for discussion. This would be a mistake in my opinion. Folks that are tired of discussing this topic should just ignore it, you don't have to read every thread. I usually listen between 10:00PM and 9:00AM so I don't hear too much from DJs but I really hate it when they talk over the music. I can't really listen to First Wave at night because while he is obviously a knowledgable fellow Swedish Egil can not help himself, he talks over the beginning and end of songs constantly. Very annoying!

One thing to consider is most of the DJ's can tell you some good info. Like the guy on that is on the Sunday Jazz show from Berkley, etc.

First of all, I've noticed when surfing through the channels that about every third station has someone on the air talking. I can hear that on regular radio, and more times than not, the DJ's on the regular radio are speaking more towards something that I care about. Don't get me wrong, some stations should have DJ's i.e. Maxim Radio. Others, should stick to the music i.e. Alt. Nation

Second of all, no commercials? Hardly. They should say, no commercials for other companies to be specific. I don't want to sit around and listen to whats on other Sirius stations. I've got a channel guide, I'll go look at it if I want to.

So, get rid of the DJ's, get rid of ALL commercials, including Sirius commercials. Otherwise, I might as well listen to FM.[/b]
I couldn't agree more!! The DJ's are loud and obnoxious. Theres nothing worse than cranking up the volume on your favorite song to have a DJ cut into the end of the song and talk about their dog or something irrelevant. Lose these morons!!!

It doesn't matter what you agree with.

The people who run this board can move, edit or delete any post they wish--whether it be offensive, non-offensive, off-topic or on-topic.

You whiners post the same complaints day after day, week after week. It gets quite old. A lot of us here are fed up with your BS.

And putting all your crybaby threads in one forum isn't stifling your free speech, son. In fact, they'll all be centralized in one place where they'll be easier for you gripers to find.

Your false and flimsy charge of me being against free speech just proves your own foolishness.

I like the DJ's. If the DJ’s talk about the music, the artist or the industry then I like them. They add to the enjoyment of music by providing background and a story.

When they talk over the music, or think we care about their political opinions, they are a PITA.

Most do a good job, but there are a few that need to have a shock collar so that they can be trained to shut up and play the music.

tx,
i listened 99% of the time to sirius gold - the djs never talked about the music. but perhaps it was because they werent old enough to really know anything about the music. in any case, there was almost never a time when the djs on gold made the station better when they talked. all of their talking was reminiscent of what i was attempting to leave by purchasing sirius in the first place.

Is it possible for you to respond and defend your position without resorting to name calling?

Let's see in one response you called me a crybaby, whiner, son and a griper. You hardly come across as a "Renaissance Man".

I've noticed this is your MO for anyone who disagrees with you. Call them names. How sad.

I've alway's thought that this was one of the better boards. There are many thoughtful, open minded posters.

YOU ARE NOT ONE OF THEM.

Good luck with your miserable life. I hope you enjoy wallowing in all that anger.

Gentlemen...

We don't tolerate pesonal attacks. Don't do it here.

These topics will come up over and over and you don't have to get involved in the discussion if you are tired of seeing it.

Stay on topic. If you have something to say that's off topic, start another thread or take it to PM.

Don't backseat moderate. Sure, give a link to someone who posted something twice, but leave the moderating up to us. If you see a problem that should be addressed, send a PM to one of the moderators who can look into the situation.
