Default Send the DJ's home

Have you ever listened to that Norm Nite guy on channel 5 say "live from the rock and roll hall of fame" after every song? What a dork. For those who like the DJ's... I say give them their own channel. 101 the DJ channel. They can go there and talk until the cows come home. ALL MUSIC... NO JJ I say!!!!!!!!

It's the reason I don't listen to the channel when he's on. And the constant jingles on Sirius Gold are enough as it is. That's why when it's on DISH it's usually on Spa 73. A channel sans DJ's.

Obviously folks have different expectations from their sat radio. For me, I don't want to hear anything but music. Frankly, I'd be thrilled if there were no DJs on music channels. No need to tell us what song is playing as it provides that info on the screen. However, if a compromise must be struck, I'd be happy if DJs were forbidden from talking over songs at a minimum. Madison could talk about her body parts until the cows come home long as it didn't interfere with the tunes. The DJs on First Wave and Stemos (sp?) on alt nation are even worse when it comes to talking over songs. It seems to be getting worse and I find myself listening to MP3s more and more. Doubt I'll renew my annual subscription next go 'round if things continue the way it is now, not that it matters.

Wow, can't have an opinion around here without a flame? Perhaps if I had 5200+ posts I could have an opinion?

My mistake. I guess if I had some OCD forum posting disorder that kept me from actually having a life, my definition of "fun" might be more inline with yours. Guess we'll have to agree to disagree as don't I want to rock the little cyber world you've created for yourself. Have a nice day.

If we could discuss this calmly...
Obviously, if we took a vote, there would be some for "DJs" and some for "no DJs", and each has pros and cons. But the way I look at it is this: there are already subscription services that give you music with no DJs, such as internet radio, Pandora, and downloading services. So if you're really into the no-DJ thing, you can go with those. Hell, even Jack FM would qualify.

But for me, the appeal of Sirius is that it's commercial-free music that's connected to the current music world, and the DJs give me that sense. It also makes it sound more like a good local radio station, but without commercials. If that's not your thing, fine.

But what I can do without are the pretaped DJ snippets, like everything I hear from A.D. That just reminds me of a computer-driven Jack FM clone.

I used to be a big proponent of keeping DJ's but now I'm not so sure. Increasingly, I have become tired of pre-recorded DJ snipets as some people have mentioned. And to be honest I'd be perfectly happy if they got rid of them. I'm content with the little jingles and what not, just to remind me I am listening to "unique" radio and not just a simple playlist.

That said, I don't think it's financially smart to get rid of them. Because to some, DJ's are important to their enjoyment of music, and no one is going to cancel because they're on there. They may cancel, however, if they aren't on there. But then again, it probably wouldn't be that big of a deal.

Some channels are great without DJ's, and some would seem empty without them. As a previous person has said, there are enough channels where both options are made available. I lean more so towards having at least some DJ content on most, as I like the human feel it gives and often the information about the music passed along.. Many of the jocks are experts in their fields, and some are even artists who helped shape the music.

Semipenguin, you're alright. Sorry I got a little mean. Ok, a lot mean.

Humm, perhaps Sirius is the answer to world peace?

I still say make the DJs stop talking over songs. I've got a stilleto and it drives me nuts when that perfect songs comes along and I don't want to record it because a DJ is talking through the intro. Its really bad on First Wave. At least I finally captured Anarhcy in the UK, so its all good.
