Default American bands

The Allman Brothers, especially in the first years with Duane, were a great American rock band.

You could make an arguement that the Beach Boys were possibly the most influential American band of all-time, but they were "pop" and not "rock".

The Jimi Hendrix Experience were one of the best bands ever. Can we classify them as American -- Hendrix, the leader, was American; Redding and Mitchell were British.

There was a similar discussion on SBS a while back. The bottom line is, Britain produces the best rock bands (Beatles, Stones, Zeppelin, Floyd, Who), America the best individuals (Elvis, Chuck Berry). With many exceptions.

Canada produced Celine Dion. I say we mass troops on the border.

I think Rush more than makes up for that, so I forgive Canada.
