Default In response to Bagleys argument on TMD this morning

Mike complained how people complain when the feild gets strung out, how when the points race isnt close going into Texas, or when people arent wadded up 9 wide into the corner, people want to complain and change the points system, change change change change.

Well unfourtunatly the expectation has been set by the sanctioning body that they will change things when they arent exciting. Nascar has conditioned people that when it isnt "ON YOUR SEAT THRILLING ACTION™"
they will do everything from, throw a bogus yellow to tighten up the feild, change the rules on the plate tracks, change the point system rules (ie:2003), change them again when stars start missing the chase (ie 2006). Since Brian France has taken over this sport, there has been all this change to make the "show" better. Well we can argue thats why people have been turned away from this sport in the last 5 years. But the fact is, the people have been conditioned that if it isnt exciting, something will be done about it.

I can't believe I'm about to say this, but this time you're right. But what pisses me off is the fans that expect every lap of every race to be that way! And it is partially nascars fault. But most fans dont believe anything else they say, so why do they believe that. I would be willing to bet that those particular fans hardly ever go to a local dirt track race. Some nights its close, and some nights its a runaway leader that can backup and lap most of the other cars! Thats just racing, its always been that way and it will always be that way. It's no different than any other sport when the underdog comes in and beats the hell out of the big dog! If you're team lost, it sucks. If they won, it was awesome. Thats life. I change channels more often because of these fans that call in and want to "fix" nascar. IT'S NOT BROKE! It just isn't perfect, what is?
