Default The off-season should start now for the 38

Kudos to NASCAR for parking David Gilliland during today's race at Texas after his incident with Juan Pablo Montoya. Shame on NASCAR for saying that there will be no further sanctions.

I am neither a fan nor an adversary of either driver. I'm neutral to both of them. It is clear, in my opinion, that what Gilliland did was absolutely intentional, dangerous, premeditated and had intent to harm. You can get people killed doing what he did.

I form this opinion because of two reasons - first, the canned response of "I hate that it happened and it's a shame there are two torn-up race cars;" and secondly, the quickness and obvious rehearsal of the response by David for the media.

NASCAR has a chance to make this right.

There are two races left this season. Yates' racing could use the financial savings that not running car #38 would bring if it wasn't on the track again in 2008. Mr. Gilliland could use the public slap to his undeserved ego. Forty-two other drivers could use the peace-of-mind knowing that their lives aren't being taken for granted by another competitor.

I agree with what your saying, but there's more to it then what you probably saw. We as viewers only saw the bonehead move that Gilliland pulled not seing the on track nonsense that led up to it. In no way am I saying that Gilliland should'nt be punished anymore but JPM's reputation for on track contraversy kinda speaks for itself.
