Default Does SIRIUS need NASCAR

I Know countless amout of poeple that would subscribe if we carried NASCAR. Even if you dont think Nascar is a sport, boring, for rednecks just take a look at one race and you will notice that many people are very, very loyal to their favorite drivers sponsors.

One single race can draw around 170,000 people!!!

I even think that if they only got half the races that would be a big step. Nascar already does that with Television. First half of the races on FOX and the Second Half races on NBC. I would be happy with that. Sirius adding Nascar won't just a few new subs i can bet they will get a ton of new subs.

I personally don't want any races, but if Sirius is going to sponsor races and a car then they need to broadcast the races.

As it is now, it's a half-assed arrangement.

This is the one most mind boggling thing. We have a great driver and we sponsor Nascar races but we do not have the Nascar channel????????????WTF

I have to agree that Sirius sponsering a car, 2 races, and is involved in a multi-year marketing agreement with International Speedway Corp. (NASCAR) and not having the races is crazy.

Naaaa, turn the tv on instead if you want Nascar. I feel it one of the most boring sports out there anyway.

I like F1, but would never listen to it.

well personally not everyone can turn a tv on when they are driving.......DOH! I make long trips often and for example last Sunday for Martinsville.......I listened to FM for the first time since having my Sirius. Why.........NASCAR......did it suck having to search for a new station with less static carrying NRN every 20-30 miles.........HELL YES it did! I like NASCAR......not a huge fan but I like to know whats going on and i follow it..... Just like CART and F1....I would listen to both of those series also if I was driving and had NO chance of watching any of it! We need it and I bet alot would listen. Can't be any worse then some of the other channels we have!!!

Having a lot of sports on the radio will do only one thing . . make the price go way up!

This is why cable/directv/dish cost so much, its because of the few sports channels that the majority (yes, most people don't watch it) do not watch.

I don't want see XM/Sirius go this way, as they are both already losing money, they will raise the price quicker.

I was really curious as to how SIRIUS pulled off the NBA deal. I wonder what that cost them, because I know networks have to pay them a pretty penny to be able to broadcast those games.

In the case of MLB, SIRIUS just broadcast ESPN feed, which already has the rights to broadcast it. So apparently this covers SIRIUS too. Though I wonder if that had to be approved for SIRIUS too and if there was any cost involved.

Not necessarily. In the event that Sirius did sign on other sports packages, they would likely make them a premium add on. Sirius is offering the NBA as part of the standard programming package today because Sirius wants to be seen as a premium service provider. But rest assured that the standard 100 stream programming package of music and talk will not increase in price one bit.

The bandwidth is already near its limit, so I doubt we'll see too many more streams or sports deals. If anything, it will be a time sharing deal where the talk streams go offline when a game is on.

Default Racing!

I don't want a NASCAR channel ala XM, but, I do want ALL of the races from the top 3 NASCAR series. For that matter I want all of the F1, CART, IRL, World Rally, and any other motor racing for which radio coverage is available. Sirius blatently LIES to its subscribers about Speed Channel radio being a motorsports stream. Its not. It is primarily continuous reruns of car repair call-in shows. Last year we had F1 radio coverage which was later downgraded to Speed Channel TV F1 audio. They played the same crap for CART last year. Now they apparently do neither. I've corresponed with both Sirius and Speed on this issue. Sirius' ABYSMAL customer no-service responds with their usual info-free boilerplate while Speed simply does not respond. I think I'll try contacting Speed through Dave Despain's Wind Tunnel call-in program on Speed. They DO put this program on Sirius and since it is essentially a radio program anyhow, it works.

AMEN Browning Fan. I find myself not even tuning to SPEED anymore b/c everytime I do I hear the same CRAP! As an avid motorsports fan we need more on SPEED. I can't get enough SPEED TV but on Sirius it make me SICK! Good Idea about Wind Tunnel! If you don't do it I WILL! I watch that and have even got throught to talk to Miguel DuHamel b4 the Daytona 200. Hell we can both call! Dave will set it straight!

Default How about this idea Sirius.

I do wish they could make this a premium package at least. I for one wouldn't mind paying a monthly fee to be able to hear the live races from Nascar, Busch & Craftsmen Truck series events.

If Sirius wanted to really get the upper hand on XM they could offer a race package that gave listeners the ability to listen to an in car feed from their favorite driver. This wouldn't take up hardly any bandwidth because it could be compressed down, without experiencing a ton of quality problems.

I realize at this moment NASCAR & XM may have a stranglehold on this matter, so I am being patient and just waiting for things to change.

What do you all think?

Thats one of 3 reasons I kept my xm radio and account. NASCAR, Hanks Place, BoneYard and CNET (if they add more programs).

Sure I can get nascar races on the MRN radio network on some AM station in Virginia, but it offers no real news or truck races. The speed channel does offer the nascar program every afternoon, but no nascar races, as of my first week of usage.

Default nascar

where i live there is very little NASCAR on radio or any motorsport for thatr matter (detroit)and often it is not played so the one station can carry baseball(boring)or collage football. So one of the main reasons to join siri or xm would be the broadcast of live racing. If it is worth having a gay/lez/tv stream .Dont you think live racing can attract as many subs.by the way i am a siri shareholder but no racing no sub for me.
