Haven't heard anything about NASCAR being added to the Internet side, but I did hear a rumor that The Catholic Channel will be added on Jan. 16th, so if they are making changes that day, it could happen for NASCAR as well.

Make since that Sirius can't broadcast the races on the internet because NASCAR.com has the rights to do that, but they should be able to broadcast all original Sirius NASCAR programming...

from the way I understood it, only the races won't be broadcast over the net, but everything else will. He wasn't too detailed about it, so I don't know about qualifying and stuff like that. they will also broadcast live every saturday from the race, and a couple hours live before the race. I tried to take most of the info in, but some seemed to dissipate out of my brain, LOL.

I'm new to The Dog, but don't you think it's "all or nothing" when it comes to whether a channel is available on the 'net?

has to do with the rights to air it. its the same with the nfl games. I believe that Nascar.com streams the races online for their own price so therefore they won't allow sirius to stream the races. I'm sure sirius would like to put the races on the net, but contractually they can't.

Not at all... it's a relatively simple matter to send one program to the audio processors for the satellite uplink but another down to the processors for the 'net...

During the races, the automation computer could just replay Friday's "Morning Drive" or something.

Goreds...

If any of the stations listed was found to be streaming a NASCAR Truck, Busch or Cup series race they would be in violation of their affiliate agreement and would be subject to lose their right to broadcast NASCAR races and could be forced to pay a very large fee.

More than likely they would be sent a cease and desist letter.

I personally think stations should be allowed to stream all of their programming but rules are rules.

I understand the NFL is really tough of stations that stream. I heard of a station a few years ago that streamed the Carolina Panthers got a call from the NFL. The station was asked how long they had been streaming the games...They said that they had been doing it for years. The fine was close to six figures.

Rydaldude,

I'm you haven't already seen this form response from SIRIUS in the past, I'm sure you'll see it again regarding another channel. I know they used to respond in the same way regarding the availability of all of their non-music content through the online stream. Notice how the reponse still says "On our website, we can only provide samples of our news, sports and entertainment channels." Now we've got CNN online along with other SIRIUS-created content and their form response is out-of-date. It's possible that SIRIUS is working to put the SIRIUS-created content online. Customer Service won't find out about the change until it happens.
