Post Need New Lefty Channel

We have Sirius Left, but it's poplulated with folks like Alex Bennett, who now declares himself to be an independent and who constantly bashes Obama, so we may as well listen to friggin' Rush Limbaugh. And Lynn Samuels, who is nuts and who also bashes Obama, so we may as well listen to friggin' Laura Ingrahm... Yo, Sirius, hire Richard Bey, who at least is a lefty, unlike Alex and Lynn, who are somewhere else.

Also, why does the right wing have 3 or more channels? The other day, Bill O'Reilly was on Fox, at the same time as some other natterhead on the misnamed "Patriot" channel, and Michael Reagan was on some other channel... 3 rightwing blowhards to listen to, whereas we lefties were limited to ONE channel. And why on Earth does Sirius even have ANY rightwing b.s. on? That crap is all available on "regular" radio, and no one is signing up for Sirius to listen to that junk, which they can hear for free on terrestrial radio. Bad marketing, Sirius.

Yes Comrade!

Why do you think that there needs to be parody in this area? Clearly the market has chosen that right wing radio draws in the listeners. Hence more channels devoted to right wing talk shows.

BTW how is that Air America working out for ya?

Some parody would make it enjoyable to listen to and can sometimes get a point across better than being serious about an issue. Mark Russell was always my favorite in that area.

this is a great place to discuss the programs that Sirius chooses to air and to debate the programming choices Sirius makes. However; denigrating others and going off on political tangents should be restricted to "The Asylum" with all political converstion.

Now, there are 2 right talk stations on Sirius, Patriot and Fox Talk. Patriot is Sirius' in-house programmed channel and Fox Talk came with the new Fox News contract. From what we understand Sirius was required to pick up Fox Talk if they wanted to continue to carry Fox News audio. Whether you like Fox News or not it is the single most popular cable news station and there was a lot of griping when it was gone for a short while.

On the left there is only Sirius left.

Both of Sirius' in-house programmed talk stations are pretty bad. Fortunately for people who listen to Patriot there are a couple of big national names available. That is not the case with left.

There are also a number of left leaning talk/entertainment programming options
OutQ
NPR Now
NPR Talk
CBC
CNN
CNN Headline (except for Nancy Grace and Glenn Beck)
BBC

On the right, the only real option beyond the talk radio streams is Fox News.

Spartan Al.. welcome to the forum, but in this gathering you need to be very easy going because they don't want any political discussions.. The fact is that Sirius left is a joke and sirius does have far too many rightwing stations. Thank goodness Stephanie Miller is still on a lot of markets and able to be streamed as is the remainder of Tom Hartman. I would suggest streaming ktlk.com the Air America outlet in Los Angeles. Miller, Hartman, Rhodes, Maddow then switching to Sirius left for Mike Malloy

As far as Air America.. AAR is doing fine despite the trattle from that sexual abuser and racist Bill O'Lielly.. There is also Nova M radio which has a couple of good shows that are streaming.

Rightwingers do not read so they need to be told what to think by high school graduates like Sean Hannity who thinks he is more intellegent than Rachel Maddow who graduated from Oxford U.

So.... because you don't like their opinions we NEED a new left channel??? Just because they bash your political choice everyone else sucks?? I used to like Ed Schultz until he started his hidden SEXIST agenda against Hillary Clinton. I am not crying we need a new channel because MY FAVORITE candidate is getting Fu*ked over from every other media outlet. Oh I see Richard Bey is an Obama surrogate so he is better than Lynn Samuels. Its all opinion, in my opinion you are a tool.... deal with it.

I've said it before, but Sirius needs to re-sign the Young Turks and make them the anchor to the Sirius Left channel. They're available - go out and get them!

Sirius needs to have programming that people actually listen to. Like it or not, the folks on patriot actually have listeners. Yea, they have patriot and fox news/talk but they're numerous left wing streams. OutQ, Stars, NPR(national peoples republic radio) etc. Also, fox talk has lefties on as well such as Alan Combs. Fact is conservatives actually listen to talk radio obviously because the most listened to programs are all conservative. With limited bandwith, sirius needs to focus on providing content that people listen to and will pay for. Perhaps the problem with left wing talk isn't quantity but quality.

sirius in house talk hosts repeat themselves all the time, talk left is a joke of a channel. no substance at all, they bash people and never can back up there points with anything at all, its funny when the callers are more informed than the host's, and come up with rational points of view.

Alex Bennett and Lynn Samuels could not be anymore worthless.. That basically says all you need to know.. The have their worst two hosts in the day parts with the highest ratings.. The new guys show is pretty lacking as well.. Sirius should be ashamed of itself.

I listen to A lot of talk. Mostly conservative but I have said before I see nothing wrong with another lefty channel if the libs want it. I tunned to Lynn Samuels monday and she talked about the stupid acedemy awards show. That is the second or third time she's talked about entertainment. They should move her to Sirius Stars or E! Fox news talk is not ALL conservative since they broadcast the Alan Colmes show. One poster mentioned signing the Young Turks but didn't those three break up?

Default I agree, new left channel

to make way for real left talk. The point that someone here tried to make is that right talk is what people want, that's why there are two right channels, and then it was said that there are two right channels because the Fox deal required it. That's not correct. There have always been two right channels and a single, not truly left channel. ABC News and Talk when it was on Sirius was very right wing. At the beginning of Sirius Left, they filled time with a guy who was, he said, from the "radical middle". He was from the radical right. So Sirius has made many mistakes with its left channel and it continues to do so. Samuels and Bennett are not left, they are NOTHING-that's the problem. At least bring Miller back and a left spectrum that is left to a degree so that it matches how far right the righties are on the TWO rightwing talk channels. They would get more subscribers. Where's Pacifica Radio programming, where's Democracy Now? Where's Radio Nation?

"ALex Bennett, who now declares himself to be an independent and who constantly bashes Obama, " You can't be on the left if you don't like Obama?
Besides Sirius left, OutQ has good left/liberal talk, and Alan Combs does a show on The Fox talk , channel. I agree I'd like to hear more left talk, but it's still a whole lot more than i get here on terrestrial radio.
By the way, I love Alex Bennet and Lynne Sammuels, they don't take themselves to seriously , like too many other talk show hosts, on both the left and right.
