Hey, I use a Panasonic RF-B60 to listen to NPR and have a Magnavox 2935 (beautiful sound quality, built like a tank). I also had a Soney 2010 with synchronous detection.

Now, Rickets, will you be nice to me?

I'm nice to everybody.

I had a 2010, too. It broke. A bunch.

Never had a 2010, but a while ago I had a SONY -SW77. It was pretty good. I do like my Satellite 800, but I need to stop listening to SIRIUS so often to devote time to it.

[quote="Jeff Cobner"]Sir, you need to turn in your citizenship and get on the next plane or boat out of this country.

Er, the whole concept of this country is an openess to alternative views. I think you "leave" attitude is more at home in facist states.

I know this conversation is a few days old, but I had to poke my head in with comments that I've learned from knowing plenty of people in journalism and the media:

Your own personal views aside, both networks are "biased" in the sense that they will above all else bend to the will of the U.S. Government if their access to information is on the line. CNN is no less the potential of being a government puppet as Fox News is. Fox just seems to revel and be proud of being a government puppet. I haven't exactly understood that, but that's the way it is.

As for the opinion shows, Sean Hannity is one of those Rush Limbaugh type guys who has a great amount of difficulty admitting he's wrong. He also dominates the discussion. I've heard him long enough that I feel I can properly come to these conclusions. If I'm going to watch a left/right debate show, CNN's Crossfire really isn't that bad. Tucker Carlson can really unleash a real zinger on the left guys, and I often agree with the guys on both sides (I'm a moderate registered Dem, but I feel out of place with the far lefties here in Calif), which I think is the sign of a better debate show than H&C, where I just walk away hating Shawn Hannity 100% of the time.

This is my own personal opinion, but Geraldo is an emberassment to either side of the political spectrum. I'm suprised Fox didn't dump him like a bad habit after he drew a map in the sand.

CNN did have an obvious left bias with previous years and previous management, but now they seem to be trying to moderate themselves to draw people who come away from Fox with a bad taste in their mouths. There is a lot less bias there now than there was with Clinton in office. Much like how Fox wasn't a bad network until G.W.B. chose to run and lips were firmly applied to ass.

Finally, people who want an unbiased news source and people who simply want to hear the news twisted to their personal bias and proclaim it unbiased are not the same thing.

There. I'm done before this is taken off into the Doghouse.

Words of incredible wisdom. Not to mention each of us comes with our own bias when we attempt to evaluate the fairness of others. We can only see through our own lenses.

I feel it's my duty to gather information from a number of diverse sources and then form a consensus opinion, weighted by my experience.

That being said, I do watch the Fox News Channel on a daily basis and find it to be more ideologically aligned than any other major news service

I have also observed some racism. For example, when they did a story about a welfare cheat last week they showed a picture of the alleged perp, who happened to be black. They then did 2 more stories about ''street'' crime but did not show pictures of the criminals, who I suspect (from their Nordic names), were not black.

And what's with this Lacy Peterson thing? Who cares? That kind of sick stuff goes on all the time. Same for that incredibly stupid basketball player.

Peterson is the big "Trial Of The Century" for the moment, so all the networks chime in on that to try and draw in the CourtTV crowd.

As for Fox, the news quality depends on anchor to anchor, and I'm sure those who watch CNN as closely will say the same about them. The bias doesn't come as much from the reporter in the field as it does the talking head in the newsroom. Shepard Smith is the best thing they have going, I hit mute when I hear Geraldo...

The biggest offender of in-studio stupidity is probably the Fox & Friends morning show. One of the host one morning asked a researching documenting the recent events of the middle east, in all seriousness, why we "couldn't just nuke 'em."
