Well it seems there are enough of us that are pissed off about this whole thing.

I'm giving it 2 weeks and I will cancel my service if it isn't fixed. Not that I can't afford 13 bucks a month, but I just disagree with the whole concept of sirius having to broadcast EVERY single sporting nba and hockey game. Just pick out the best 2 games every night and broadcast those. Who really cares about memphis playing milwaukee? I wonder if anyone is actually buying satellite radio to listen to this?

I like the idea from a poster above about having sirius broadcast the sports on non-live feeds. Given that the right, left and center streams are live in the evening, it would make sense to keep those free from the mind numbing sports.

This whole thing is just maddening!

I will call those phone #s on Monday. I have free long distance. They will be hearing from me.

This is my last post.

This is all from the sirius website. If this is correct, and I assume that they cannot change it now, then I'm done with sirius.

Stream 145
------------------------
Mon 11/3 NG (No games)
Tue 11/4 NG
Wed 11/5 San Jose Sharks @ New Jersey Devils
Thu 11/6 Washington Capitals @ Philadelphia Flyers
Fri 11/7 Los Angeles Lakers @ New Orleans Hornets

No malloy 3 out of 5 nights next week.
***
Mon 11/10 Los Angeles Kings @ Washington Capitals
Tue 11/11 Ottawa Senators @ Atlanta Thrashers
Wed 11/12 Cleveland Cavaliers @ Miami Heat
Thu 11/13 Florida Panthers @ New Jersey Devils
Fri 11/14 Seattle Supersonics @ Indiana Pacers

No live Malloy at all in 2 weeks.

*****
Mon 11/17 NG
Tue 11/18 Chicago Blackhawks @ Edmonton Oilers
Wed 11/19 Los Angeles Clippers @ Indiana Pacers
Thu 11/20 Toronto Maple Leafs @ Edmonton Oilers
Fri 11/21 San Jose Sharks @ Phoenix Coyotes

1 night of Malloy in 3 weeks!

*********************
Mon 11/24 NG
Tue 11/25 Ottawa Senators @ Atlanta Thrashers
Wed 11/26 Edmonton Oilers @ Detroit Red Wings
Thu 11/27 Thanksgiving (I won't be giving thanks for sirius anymore)
Fri 11/28 Dallas Mavericks @ Denver Nuggets

1 night of Malloy in 4 weeks.
----------------

So there you have it. Irrelevent sports is going to block all but 4 nights of the Malloy show on Sirius.

I also did a quick check on radio right, and it's not much better for that stream. I think they get 5 nights of their programming during November.

What were the sirius programmers thinking!!!!

I really like sirius compared to xm, but I believe that sirius is doomed. Xm took a much more realistic approach to this, putting on the nba game of the week instead of all this extra sports crap that sirius is doing. Very few people will subscribe to sirius just to hear all this sports waste. They should have focused their energy on adding fox sports and sporting news sports talk streams. Another reason why sirius is a $2 stock and xm is over $20.

Good luck sirius, you just lost a customer who was a real booster for your service. Back to npr on my drive home from work now. Adios.

P.S...if anyone is interested in buying my unit, the new audiovox wireless car unit, then send me an email.

I dont believe Sirius is doomed, but this really isnt too good for subscribers who enjoy the talk streams. I dont think Sirius needs to broadcast every game -- even when you purchase the MLB package on MLB extra innings (which I do every year), you do not get every game. I think sirius should use the weather streams and the sports streams for games and that is it.

I almost agree. I think that one of the business streams(CNBC/Bloomberg) could be used. It is 3 hours after the bell when they would need it, and one is ok for several hours. Also, I would feel fine if they pre-empted word network

There are quite a few people who feel this way. It was the #1 topic on Malloy's show (I had to listen to a time-delayed repeat). People are calling Sirius directly (212-584-5100, ask for Programming) and complaining.

Sirius Left is one of the very few things on Sirius that isn't available elsewhere and a live call-in show, by its very nature, is less preemptible than say Pat St. John interviewing Peter Frampton every 2 hours (135).

The Sirius Left page says nothing about preemptions for sports.

The folks from Memphis and Milwaukee might care! Selective broadcasting of games would make Sirius no better than broadcast TV and radio! The beauty of broadcasting all the games is LISTENER CHOICE!! I like talk radio also, but, I believe that live sports will attract more subs than talk radio.

Most people can crank up the old AM and find the big game. For most of us Sirius is the only way to hear Mike Malloy. Sports is a local thing and should be left to local broadcasters. Get it off Sirius talk channels.

While I love sports, DETAIL is right when he says if you want to hear your local team there are local broadcasts of the event. The game of the week or a featured team would be fine with me, and keep the talk fans happy. Trying to carry as many games as possible cant cut it, just stick with a few good ones. This is national radio! Trying to be the Direct Ticket of sat radio really isnt feasible. Sirius needs to LISTEN to their subs as they say they do. IMHO

I subscribed to XM for Coast to Coast, the ArtBell show as it sucks on AM and I can only hear that in the AM ,where on XM its replayed in the PM.

Why cant they use the music channels for games? I bet if outq was used to play games, they would change it.

That would be comparable to sacrificing the golden goose. The sports will stay on the talk side where they belong.

By the way, OutQ has a huge base of listeners. Sirius Left and the other streams do not. Despite the outcry of the talk show fans, if Sirius thinks they can draw more listeners (subscribers) with live sports then they will do it.

It's a tradeoff and from my perspective a necessary interim solution. As the subscriber base grows you'll likely see decicated streams for sports and no pre-empting.

The Sirius experience really is more than just one or two shows. As disappointing as it is to not be able to hear your favorite talk show, there are so many other choices in music and talk.

I dont think OutQ should be pre-empted because they probably have live programming on during prime time. I like the idea of the sports programming on Sirius, and I think we can find a middle-ground between the sports fans and the talk fans. I dont think any of that programming should be pre-empted, whether its Mike Malloy, or whatever is on Sirius Right or Talk.

I would find it hard to believe that, for instance, all of the steams in the 130s have a greater listenership than Malloy. I could be wrong, but I would bet that Radio Disney has fewer listeners between 9-12 EST than Sirius Left would if they broadcasted Malloy. Radio Classics is another one that I think should be used for sports. This channel is by definition re-runs of old shows, so what is being pre-empted will be played again many times.

Do you really need XM to hear Art Bell, can't you just remote view his program?

AFAIK, EI is the only one of the 4 major sports subscriptions that don't carry every game. Both NFLST and NHLCI carry every game (I subscribe to both of them.) I suppose it would be possible to not have a CI game or two if every nearly every team is playing, but DirecTV dedicates 13 channels (740-752) for NHLCI, enough for 24 of 30 teams. But since NHL only plays about 1/2 as many games over the the same time frame as MLB, they are off more often.

I enjoy the NHL games on the Dog, but I understand your position as well.
