Default Sirius talk being taken over by irrelevent sports

Both stream 144 and 145, sirius talk right and left, are being taken over every evening by hockey and nba. This is CRAP!!! Who cares about the NBA, it doesn't matter what happens right now, all the teams make the playoffs and it's just a waste of bandwidth.

I like the Mike Malloy show on stream 145 and the last two nights i've heard basketball. Radio left is the reason I moved from xm to sirius. I'm very disapointed that they have to play sports on these streams.

Is there anything that can be done to get rid of the basketball on the talk streams??

One of the main reasons I purchased satellite radio was because I was sick and tired of my local AM stations pre-empting talk radio for sports (I live in Nw Pa, so we hear all the Buffalo, Cleveland and Pittsburgh sports teams). If Sirius wants to broadcast sports, fine, but not on the talk stations.

Not too throw cold water on your posts, but where would Sirius put the sports specials on then? What channels? It surely shouldnt be music, that is what most people get satellite radio for. I for one love sports over talk radio anyday, so for me it doesnt matter. The games dont last 24/7, just a couple hours and its back to talk or whatever. Just another outlook at this situation.....

Well I dont mind that they are taking over for NBA games. But without telling anyone it really does not make any sense. What doesn't make more sense it that they take it over when the sports 1,2,3 are not all playing games. One is always running commercials. They just need to expand the sports and not take over anything esle. Or how about take away the spanish stations. I think with such a small market penetration this segment is very small for five talk stations. (I am not a racist)

I look forward to Mike Malloy on 145 so I was very disappointed to find a stupid game on that channel two nights in a row. I sent off an email and let Sirius know how I felt. Sports need to be confined to those channels designated for sports. I was at home at the time so I could go to www.ieamericaradio.com and listen to Mike. If you missed the show it is archived at www.whiterosesociety.org Sirius can't be all things to all people without pissing everyone off. Keep the focus on talk on the talk channels and sports on the sports channels.

I'm glad I'm not the only one pissed off. I usually listen to Mike Malloy on my drive home, and have missed him the last two nights. I looked on the sirius website and see that just about every night in november there will be a hockey or nba game on sirius left during the Mike Malloy show. I have nothing against the sports (I'm a big hockey fan, nba sucks), but this is just overkill playing ever single game, having to inconvience listeners of channels that should be playing their regularly scheduled shows.

I swiched from xm to sirius for the talk variety (the music is good on both services). Still nothing on xm talk to make me want to swich back. Xm sure has an opportunity to gain listeners if they put on a radio left channel. I'm not loyal to either service. I'm loyal to the content they broadcast.

What about the weather channels, cant they be used for sports and not disappoint anyone? I agree, I hate sports messing with programs.

They are using the weather channels, those get used first. But they are also using these other talk streams. Its truly a tough choice to make. Many folks got SIRIUS because they liked the talk streams and now they are getting preempted for sports. Its certainly a double edge sword and one they should be very careful with as they are swinging it around in making these decisions.

I sent an email to Sirius yesterday stating my dissatisfaction of the removal of talk streams for sports. I received an email back telling me in a nice way -- too bad. They said that the majority of subscribers indicated they wanted NBA/NHL and in order to accommodate them, they needed to use the talk channels.

They could move Malloy to 146. That Online Tonight show is a waste of bandwidth.

I dont think any of the talk shows should be pre-empted for sports. They have 40 channels to choose from. I cant believe that all of these other channels have live programming that cant be pre-empted. Lots of people have Sirius for the talk channels and listen to these channels in the evening.

I think the solution is to pre-empt pre-recorded programming on other channels and not the live programming on the talk channels. Its foolish to pre-empt these channels when there seems to be other channels that probably do not have live programming that are not being pre-empted.

I got the same response when I emailed Sirius. I replied to that email indicating that I did not want sports on 145. Sirius then said my concerns would be passed on to the programing department. The number one reason I got Sirius over XM was because they had a left voice on there talk channels. It's a voice I can't find on local radio. I can however find local games. Sirius should be more selective on the games they offer, and keep them on the sports channels.

I like Hilly Rose and his programs. I wished i could record his morning hours in addition to the 2 hours at 9pm est. I too believe Online Tonight or the David Lawrenfe show, is a wate of place. Maybe a computer tech show would be good, but i rather have the uncensored stuff like mike church and what little i have heard of pam who ever. I think they need a new talk channel for shows like Dave Ramsey and other consumer like programming and have a channel for uncensored talk like they have a left and right channel and of all, no interruptions for games.

How many games are they airing a night? We have what, 4 weather channels, 3 sports channels only, and then the talk shows. What is going on in the sports world that needs that many channels? Sorry, I am a nascar and nastruck fan and those are only on the weekends, sometimes friday or thursday night.
