Well, I (like others) received the lovely reassuring letter after Sirius lost/chose not to keep Air America "stay tuned for exciting new developments..."

Ok, 2 months later ... Sirius Left is still the same - I love Lynne and the Turks, but when they added AAR, they also added "Patriot".

Along with FOX, ABC Radio ... Sirius Right ... that adds up to 4 "rightish" talk outlets, vs. Sirius Left (can't count OutQ as a left talk anymore -- it's almost 50% music on a LOW bandwidth channel). That's a little out of balance in my book.

I'm firing off a nasty-gram. This is NOT what I signed up for. No, I am not threatening to leave - I'm just miffed and want them to know it.

I can't believe the niche for Korean radio would be bigger than the Latino population though. This is pretty crazy. What would be nicer is if we got expanded Spanish speaking chanels. Now that we are going to be getting Canadian content, it would be nice if Sirius would begin to branch into the mexican market, for what I understand the satellite reaches most of Mexico

There are Mexican stations all over the US, so maybe they feel that they are being served locally. We have 4 Spanish channles already on Sirius.

Patriot needs to be revamped with lib talkers as well. It's disgusting that Sirius thinks only right-wing talkers can be "Patriots"

Woke up, turned my radio on to hear Radio Korea for the first time. This has got to be the stupidist channel we have. Yeah, trying to get an ethnic community is great but Koreans? Do we have that many in the states? Has Sirius ever heard of the Hispanics?

There are approximately 864,000 foreign born from Korea in the United States. According to the US Census Bureau, there were 864,125 immigrants from Korea in the United States in 2000.

The foreign born from Korea represent the seventh-largest immigrant group in the United States. Census results show the foreign born from Korea (864,125) made up the seventh-largest immigrant group in 2000, following the foreign born from Mexico (9.2 million), the Philippines (1.4 million), India (1.0 million), China (excluding Hong Kong and Taiwan) (988,857), Vietnam (988,174), and Cuba (872,716).

Immigrants from Korea account for 0.3 percent of the total US population and over two percent of the total foreign born population. Census 2000 numbers show that immigrants from Korea made up 0.3 percent of the total US population and 2.8 percent of the roughly 31.1 million foreign born in the United States.

Between 1990 and 2000, the number of foreign born from Korea in the United States increased by 52 percent. The foreign-born population from Korea increased from 568,397 in 1990 to 864,125 in 2000, or by 295,728 people, according to the results of Census 1990 and Census 2000. This represents an increase of 52 percent.

Sirius already has several Spanish language stations. I haven't seen anything promoting Radio Korea to the general public (granted, the city I live in doesn't have a huge Korean population, so I might have missed it). Also, I thought the press release said it was starting the September. This is the only channel in recent memory to launch early. Odd.

Well I've got a few months left on my subscript. but it looks like I'll be dropping Sirius since they haven't shown any inclination to replace AA with another lineup of Lib talk. Putting a Korean channel on 144 seems like a slap in the face also.

Oh well, I use to load up my mp3 player at whiterosesociety.org and listen a day later to my fave shows, looks like I'll be going back to that.

Wow, wadda a channel, Radio Korea

Seriously people, is there that much of a demand for a Korean channel? Or couldn't Sirius come up with anything else so they just "filled" it in with this? If I were Korean I don't think I'd spend the money on Sirius just for one channel.

And wouldn't Radio Korea be much more appropriate at the Shortwave World Channel on the News Side (were Radio Australia, Ireland, etc. are)?

And please before anyone says I'm anti-Korean or anything. I shop at Oriental stores, have friends, etc.. It's just that I think this is a stupid move by Sirius.

I wish Sirius had a way to find out how many people listen to a channel. I bet not even a few hundred out of all of Sirius listeners listened to the channel for a half hour in 24 hours.

Hey Sirius, how about a Radio Tibet channel

Radio Korea is SO damn stupid I am fuming in anger. At the end of the year if Radio Korea ain't gone I am gone. AAR was great and they replace it with this piece of garbage, this has to be one of the dumbest moves in my opinion that Sirius has made. I hope this Radio Korea crap is temporary. You know most of the Korean American population live near large metropolitan cities or in communities with a large Korean American population and most of those cities already have Korean radio stations. Just my two cents....

I still think Sirius will replace AAR with another liberal station by the end of the year. But as I said before radio Korea has got to be the most ridiculous decision on the part of Sirius ever.

Oh for you libs...turn on 141 or 142 since 144 is out. You might learn something.
