There's very little truth to the idea that XM is cancelling Playboy
Radio.

Here's the truth.

Playboy Radio will still be around in Sept... in Jan of 2006... and
for years beyond that.

By January we will have expanded to a full 24/7 station, with a
variety of shows, hosts, concepts and viewpoints.

The rest of the truth is despite the fact that Playboy® Radio remains
the ONLY PROFITABLE PROGRAMMING on XM, they didn't want to re-invest
in a more robust product. Playboy does.
XM doesn't seem to want to serve the adult community and its fans.
Playboy does.
XM doesn't seem to want to cater to audience with sexual appetite.
Playboy does.

So very soon instead of just Nightcalls and Sexy Stories on the
radio...

You'll get a real 24/7 station that includes those series
AND
Hef, and the Playmates, and a dating show, and a DVD review show, and
a fetish show, and a show with sex experts, and a smart sexy morning
show.

AND
you'll be able to get it on your radio AND you computer

AND
we'll make the content available for podcasting

AND
there won't be any premium service fee for listening on the radio.

For us -- this is a dream come true.

Thank you for helping us make this happen
PLEASE COME WITH US.

BUT is this going to torture the straight guys like the gay channel is gay guys?
The gay channel is just stereotypical crap.

I tried listening to Playboy when it was on XM and it was incredibly boring. Basically, it was just the audio of some of the Playboy TV shows, so you would constantly hear people say things like "look at this" or there would be long stretches where you didn't hear anything because the focus was on the visuals. Also, the sound quality was horrible, like someone holding a microphone up to the speaker of an old TV set. It was a waste of bandwidth that XM was smart to get rid of. I can't imagine that it will be revamped enough to make it into something people would want to listen to.

In that case, I would change my vote to no. I had Playboy TV 10 years ago, and it wasn't worth it except for the occasional porno that they would play and even that was just soft - same thing you see now-a-days on skinemax. And then there were the Hugh Hefner party shows - boooooring. Who gives a crap about that stuff?

So if playboy is going to be two chicks talkin dirty, don't bother. Give us a punk channel instead.
