Default If SIRIUS were to aquire Playboy® Radio - Would you listen?

As you all know XM will be dropping Playboy® Radio as of September 1. If SIRIUS were to aquire this channel would you have any interest at all? Now keep in mind the new changes that are supposedly supposed to take effect - taken from this post:

There's very little truth to the idea that XM is cancelling Playboy
Radio.

Here's the truth.

Playboy Radio will still be around in Sept... in Jan of 2006... and
for years beyond that.

By January we will have expanded to a full 24/7 station, with a
variety of shows, hosts, concepts and viewpoints.

The rest of the truth is despite the fact that Playboy® Radio remains
the ONLY PROFITABLE PROGRAMMING on XM, they didn't want to re-invest
in a more robust product. Playboy does.
XM doesn't seem to want to serve the adult community and its fans.
Playboy does.
XM doesn't seem to want to cater to audience with sexual appetite.
Playboy does.

So very soon instead of just Nightcalls and Sexy Stories on the
radio...

You'll get a real 24/7 station that includes those series
AND
Hef, and the Playmates, and a dating show, and a DVD review show, and
a fetish show, and a show with sex experts, and a smart sexy morning
show.

AND
you'll be able to get it on your radio AND you computer

AND
we'll make the content available for podcasting

AND
there won't be any premium service fee for listening on the radio.

For us -- this is a dream come true.

Thank you for helping us make this happen
PLEASE COME WITH US.

I said no. I don't think that this is what we need. XM is getting rid of it. Why should we pick up their unwanted crap?

I would rather listen to Howard.

I'm not sure what they even do on Playboy Radio.

Just my opinion.

Hell I'll give it a fair shake. They are going from 2-3 shows that repeat to a full 24/7 lineup in January. So they are at least trying to give it more appeal. Remember, we are taking another XM castoff: NASCAR. Sure, you may not listen, but there are plenty of folks who will, and WILL be switching because of both PB (if indeed it is coming to Sirius) and NASCAR.

If it is part of the regular line up at no extra charge.... Yes indeed I'd give it a listen. If they are willing to expand the programming and do the things suggested by that on guy I think Sirius could actually do better with it than XM. Lets face it that $2.99 a month made the decision for a lot of people. But I certainly agree that just bringing over the same old stale stuff that is currently on XM shouldn't be done.

I'm somewhat undecided on this, for a while i have been saying that this channel is pretty stupid. Being that Playboy is a naked chick magazine, video, or what not; it does not seem like it would be the type of thing that would go well over the radio. But, i suppose i would give it a try and check out what type of programing they might have to offer. I still think that it would be a waste of a channel, like Maxxim.

And, as Michigan Made said; i to would much more rather listen to "naked" chicks of Haward than of any other program.

When XM first introduced Playboy Radio, I signed up... I was curious as hell as to what Porn Radio would sound like...

It was horrible... Basically they had call-ins to these two girls (Cant remember names), who I'll admit had sexy voices, but there was no substance to the show... Moaning on the air gets old after a few seconds, and these two just didnt have the talent to maintain a show...

At the time, they were the ONLY show on Playboy Radio and it just kept getting repeated over & over until I cancelled in a week.. I dont know how much better than channel got by now, but being that XM is getting rid of em, I assume not by much...

I would give it a try. Whenever there is something new coming out on Sirius, I try to give it a fair shake. So yeah... bring on Playboy!

I think I was one of the few people who somewhat enjoyed PB radio on XM. Maybe it's still the boyish part of me, but I'd listen if it were on Sirius.

I think many people are confused thinking that this is just about looking at nakid women. But there are many adult programs that don't require that you see anything. Sexual excitement or stimulation isn't just visual but it does require that you have a bit of an imagination. This is the one thing that TV/Video/DVD has done for us, people don't use their imagination anymore... they want to see it. Also there can be many adult type talk programs that deal with sexuality that can be quite interesting.

I can see where PB could do something very interesting with this type channel. But rather they will or not is yet to be seen. If you listen to what the one guy said, it seems that XM didn't really want to do anything with it on the creative end, so it basically didn't go anywhere. This isn't a channel I'd be listening too all the time, but occasionally it maybe cool.

Theres nothing thrilling on there that you can't hear on Maxim Radio or Opie & Anthony... It seems our culture has re/pro-gressed to a point where Playboy is tamer than what you'd hear normally

I think that playboy may not be around for much more than maybe another 10-15 years. It was a good magazine for men back in the 50's, 60's, 70's & 80's. but today, with chicks running around nearly half naked as it is on the stree and at the beaches, who the hell needs to get playboy. Also, i think that people are in the need of just a little more than the "artistic" renditions of photographing naked women.
