This is the first I heard about S* giving us the middle finger about another left talk channel. I'm strongly thinking of Cancelling at End of Subscription.

I don't think a second Liberal/Progressive talk channel can be formed overnight. The loss of AAR was a blow to Sirius, no doubt. And to get a QUALITY second Left-Wing talk channel with more than one or two hosts will probably take more than a couple of months.

Sirius and XM both have only one Liberal Talk channel...and truth be told, given the current situation of progressive hosts, that may be all the market will support for now.

All you whiners should read this excellent reply by Roscoryan over-and-over, until you start understanding these FACTS

Liberal Talk Radio is at best, a cult following. Just look at this link. This should not be news, nor come as a surprise to anyone here anymore!!

And if you still don't believe this, go look at www.radioandrecords.com to find the same information.

At the risk of sounding like one of Rush's dittoheads, "DITTO"!

Take the political trolling to the political forum if at all. Mods please note this! I'm getting tired of sifting through this mash of trolling too!

As for Sirius's plans, still haven't heard any plans announced one way or the other that discount the idea that they are going to add a second channel, but it's not looking good. Thus, it's not looking good for me to continue being a customer either, after having been a loyal customer and advocate around three years now (the Sirius sticker on my car window is about to come down).

I think I'll give them one more month, and if it is still in the situation it is now, I'll probably cancel then.

Anyone hear on whether they are still in talks with Disney on ABC radio properties or not? If they do buy it, that could make a difference, and give us Ray Taliafierro and Bernie Ward over the night time hours.

I wouldn't mind us having a lot of repeats to start with, as long as we got Thom Hartmann and Stephanie Miller live and a few newer hosts. They could add some of these hosts later and knock out the repeats as they add them.

Or perhaps if they play the same "satellite exclusive" card and keep Hannity away from XM after doing the Disney deal, maybe they can bargain with XM to loosen up the exclusive deal on Air America in exchange for loosening up their control on Hannity then too and get back Air America.

One thing which will help firm my decision to cancel or not would be if they continue to preempt Sirius Left broadcasts with NFL broadcasts over the next month or so. That is also something they can control and "protect" Sirius Left from being preempted. If they don't, that shows one more element of disregard for our patronage, which will mean it is time to leave.

Asking that the NFL not be played on Sirius Left is unreasonable, as they shuffle it between all of the talk stations. That being said, I think it's pretty clear the chances of Sirius is getting another left channel is extremely low. They just added five (?) talk stations - none liberal talk.

I ditto your ditto. Mods can't you do something about this bat person? A conservative blog is not a legitimate, unbiased source!

I recall last year when they had two liberal channels, they still made an extra effort not to preempt Air America. There are a lot of channels to choose from to preempt, and many don't. All I'm asking is that given that they have some sensitivity that there is only one remaining channel that liberals have left to listen to, and if they preempt that, they are making the reasons to stay just that much more difficult to deal with. If there was a sign that they were trying to protect Sirius Left from preemption, it would be at least some gesture they could make to us that says we are important listeners to them (and something that they wouldn't have to be overly concerned with other legal and contractual issues on to accomodate). If we are dealt less favorably in terms of being given options for the kind of talk radio we want to listen to, I don't see why we can't expect more favored treatment when it comes to preemption.

Huh? I've been the graphic designer and a moderator here at Backstage since early 2003. I wonder if you have me confused with someone else?

Oh well. I do like XM too. Thanks for your support as well!

Oh, sorry 'bout that. There's someone else with the login name "Rosco" on another board, who'd recognize me if he saw me here.

Default The poll is quite revealing

sure the majority are sticking it out, but 45% will consider leaving or leave, should motivate Sirius to consider progressive options

With the amount of money they are paying Stern, I hope they get at least 6 million subs from his coming aboard

I doubt an unscientific, impromptu poll on a fan message board involving less than 50 people will motivate Sirius to do anything.

Yup. I said it before. If you really want to send a message, cancel. Then come back if they remedy the problem. Make sure you send emails to the right people to explain why you cancelled too. Money talks and Sirius has already shown it's not doing anything about this even though they have numerous options out there like Democracy Now! or all of Pacifica or a feed from FSTV. etc....Those are hours worth of lib media that can fill up a second stream.
