I did the same thing - and the vehicle I almost crashed was the new one I bought a month ago, selected partially on the fact that it had factory Sirius radio. If I had known a month ago that Fox would be dropped, I would have given a much more serious look at at a vehicle having factory XM. I suspect they will work things out though, and Fox will return to Sirius. I probably won't switch to XM if it doesn't (because of the NFL package), but I may be tempted to get an XM tuner also.

It is tempting to see some deep dark plot that has Howard Stern demanding that Sirius drop Fox, but I suspect that in the end it is a misunderstanding/dispute that will be worked out to the best interest *except* the liberals who are apparently threatened by the existance of Fox News. I do agree with them that Fox is not balanced - just as CNN isn't, though I think both are fair...

We SHOULD be able to get the news, and nothing but the news. No political slant, (unless its a political show, for example O'Reilly, or Hannity and Colmes) but that isn't happening. With any news channel.
I agree. The funny thing is, Sirius is still in need of serious subscribers. They shouldn't be looking to lose any, but doing everything they can to keep and get more.

When O'Reilly interviewed Stern on his show and asked him how he thought Sirius could pay for this, Howard basically said not my problem. He's getting paid significant cash and it doesn't matter where it comes from. I can't blame him either. It's like I've read numerous places before...do the math. Sirius needs massive amounts of subscribers to carry the debt of the upcoming and existing talent. So why even rock the boat just a little????? It's like carrying only the AFC West on the NFL. Carry everything you can to get the most subscribers you can.

I also love the posts that actually want the FNC listeners to leave. Are you kidding me? Do you not understand that without subscribers you have no Sirius? Regardless of what channel you listen to? Even though you hate FNC or just don't listen to it, you need to still email Sirius and tell them to bring it back. Like it or not, it was one of the more popular channels on Sirius which tells me quite a few people listen to it. Sirius needs all of us to survive and you are actually hurting the company by wanting listeners to leave.

Although I have returned my Sportster I got for Christmas (I was going to be a new subscriber) I have not went out and replaced it with an XM unit yet. I will give Sirius until the end of the month. If FNC is not back by then, XM will get my subscribsion.

I think Sirius will be surprised at the amount of cancelations they will get due to this decision. And the previous poster was right, it is in everyones best interest not just the FOX lovers.

I want what I want and will spend my $'s where Fox will be.

Not sure what else I can add to this thread, other than to say losing a PRI or a BBC would be a lot worse than losing a Fox News, in my opinion.

I switched my plan to a monthly plan in case I needed to cancel.
I also decided I would call Sirius each and every day and inquire about when FOX would be back on.
Yesterday I was on hold almost an hour before I could voice my opinion.
Today I was on hold for approx 10 minutes. I asked when FOX would be back on and was told they are currently talking with FOX and it should be back on the air in 3 days.....

I am not holding my breath, but I am hopeful that both sides will come to their senses. It is not good for either of them to not be partnered with the other.

That date seems to line up with another one mentioned in this thread to be back on Friday...good news perhaps?

That is funny, just last night I was told by a rather rude Cust Serv Rep that "Fox News is gone, it won't be back, I will be glad to cancel your subscription, no need to wait until your month is up". I wonder who is right?

IF they are not lieing to you that is good news.

I know there are guys here that do not care for FOX, and do a lot of name calling. To you I say grow up.

Sirius cares a lot of channels that do not appeal to me. But not once have I ever come on here and bashed them, or clapped my hands when a channel was dropped that didn't interest me. You have your channels that you want to listen to, and the rest of us have ours.
Grow up and learn how to work your receiver so that you can jump past the channels that have no content to interest you.

I need to ask why is it that some of you want to tell others " not to let the door hit you on the a** on the way out" for their choice to leave sirius for XM over fox or any other reason? Some of you want to try and say your happy others are being disappointed and dont care if they lose some subscribers, While others of you say you own 1000 share or 8000 shares and think its a good move. Well its not! From someone who owns a lot more shares than that, and has since before they sold their first radio, and have been a subscriber since the begining. I must say I am very dissapointed in they way their programing has gone and I am also changing to XM for this issue and a few others. Sirius started with a much better product but has been on a downslide for quite a while with their choices. They should have been able to take over the market and surpass Xm even when they came online later because of their production problem, but let me list a few problems I see. 1. Radio classics is all been played so many time that I have memorized all the shows and have gone back to my audio books ( cuurrently own $ 6k worth),2. They constantly interupt programming w/ the sports in the middle of programs instead of adding the channels to hold the sports (sirus has just over 120 chanels while Xm has grown to over 160), 3.Fox is want many people want and like. 4. Sirius cannot seem to catch up to XM's new products to provide better options for listening ( they constantly seem to be about 6-9 months behind still)!!!!! 5. Very poor advertising and higher up front cost for radios!!!! I have chosen to sell my stock on Jan 9th and switch to XM that same week!!! Each loss to sirius means they need 2 new subscribers to add 1 to their count!!!! I Will be trucking with xm 14 hrs a day!!

Today I canceled 2 and kept 2. Ordered 2 Roady XT's. Never thought of doing this before. But CNN is not the answer. I think Sirius f****ed up bigtime.

Also I must say One more thing. Some of you are saying that Fox wants Sirius to pay to much for their feed, and they shouldn't do this if because of the higher cost. But, with what they are paying for Stern, football, and other sports which has not brought them the subscribers they thought it would i cannot see why they would not want to keep Fox which does hold some subscribers. My feeling are as a truck driver who listens to the radio abot 10- 14 hrs a day losing my option that I care for, as well as haveing the trucking network cut off for sports, sirius as shown that they are not able to make the decisions that will help keep subscribers or help them catch XM anytime soon. Where as in the past I have talked many into getting sirius instead of XM ( both on the cb with other drivers and in the stores since it seems many salesmen dont know the differences between the two) I will know be trying to convince people why I definetly think XM has become superior to sirius. The music is basically the same it come down to the news and entertainment sections between the two now!!!!

Stern has not brought the subscribers they thought it would?

NFL has not brought the subscribers they thought it would?

OK.

From a December 28, 2005 press release:

Bridge Ratings' trending of Sirius Satellite Radio subscribers during the fourth quarter of 2005 reached 826,000. According to a just-released study, 22% of Sirius sign-ups during the week of October 3 were due directly to Howard Stern. As marketing and awareness progressed through the fourth quarter, subscribers to the sat service directly due to Stern reached 58% the week prior to the Christmas holiday and topped 60% the final three shopping days of the holiday season.

no it has not that is why they had to reduce the amount of their estimates for stern subscribers
"Stern is expected to still draw more than 1 million new subscribers to Sirius Satellite Radio, but it downsized its original estimate by more than 100,000"
