Radio Classics Schedule?
Unhappy Radio Classics Schedule?

Does anyone know what's happening with Radio Classics this year? (Do the people at Radio Classics even know what they're doing??) Last year they had a bunch of excellent Christmas shows on that I kept missing the start of - I've looked and I've looked and can't find a definitive schedule for the channel that goes into any more detail than just the show title. Dogstarradio, bless their hearts, have a nice schedule that's mostly correct, but I'd love to know when the festive shows come on.

Anyone know?

You should do a search and read all the posts from when the schedule was consistently incorrect. Not sometimes incorrect. Always wrong, as if no one were even trying to keep it updated. If Sirius is posting a schedule with even correct show titles, then they've come light years.

We feel your pain.

Great! That wasn't up there a day or so ago. It would be nice to find out exactly *when* these episodes are on though, huh?

FWIW, RadioClassics is in the Christmas mode now... Most of the shows are Christmas versions.. This year, they've even changed the 'filler music' they play between the shows to Christmas swing and jazz from the 30's and 40's

On the SCHEDULE tab, it now shows you when specific episodes like "It's a Wonderul Life" and "Miracle" are on.

I often wonder if the "filler" music isn't something that Sirius adds but is rather actual music from the original broadcasts.

Actually Sirius provides the filler music and some of the commercials... You can mark the songs with song and artist seek. Many of the filler songs show up on Standard time... If they were part of the rado show content, the song and artist seek wouldn't work.

The RadioClassic channel really is just a giant informercial for an outfit called Media Bay , operating as radioclassics.com This company also provides the content on XM's old radio show channel as well.

This is a true fact.

Of course, one could also say that radio songs are just commercials for the record companies to sell CDs.

Yes.. But Sirius picks the music for the music channels and does the arranging. The music channels actually cost Sirius because there are no ads. There are royalties paid to the musicians, but no single outside company makes money on the music channels.

Media Bay arranges and supplies ALL the old radio show content to Sirius with the goal of Media Bay making money....

The shows are a 'sampler' meant to expose listeners to their product. The idea is that listeners will buy the full meal deal from the MediaBay companies, Radio Spirits and Radio Classics. See: http://www.radioclassics.com/sirius/

Also.. From the Media Bay web site:

"Our launch on Sirius marks just the beginning of what we believe we can achieve through our RadioClassics subsidiary," said Michael Herrick, chief executive officer of MediaBay. "We believe that the exposure gained from our launch on Sirius and other distribution platforms will provide significant revenue streams and offer advertisers a targeted way of reaching consumers. Sirius has given us an opportunity to expand our unique programming across digital distribution platforms, in addition to the Internet, and we are excited to be working with them."
