Well.. The first song I hear is Beyond the Sea. Huh.... They play that on Standard Time ! I listened for quite a while.. I didn't hear much that would really be specific for Kids. Perhaps 2 - 3 songs in 1/2 hour. Perhaps I'm thinking it should all be Barney and Sesame Street type programing.. I didn't hear much of that at all.

I'm curious to know how popular this channel really is? Does anyone have kids that listen to this channel regularly?
I haven't read the follow-up posts, so someone may have already touched on this, but I'll quickly try to explain what you heard.

The song Beyond the Sea is from the Disney movie Finding Nemo, although it is only played during the credits. A lot of the songs have me scratching my own head, but luckily my four-year-old can almost always clear it up for me

I don't understand the Disney Kids channel (115); the songs are more appropriate for some local yocal station like 105 "The Beat."

I love the Jessica Harper songs, which prompted me to purchase quite a few from iTunes, along with the Laurie Berkner Band, and make compilation CDs for my little girl. However, we heard a song by Jessica Harper called Stay You, I think, about six months ago, and I can't find it anywhere! Maybe it will be released this year on a new album?

Peace,
Shay

My wife bought one of the Laurie Berkner CDs for our Son after hearing her on Kids Stuff. I suspect she'll be getting the John Lithgow kids CD soon as well.

Since you're a "top dawg" and all, do you have any idea why my picture doesn't appear by my name on my posts? I know it's just below the max size, and it shows on my profile when I view it. I guess I'll throw that bone to the techs.

My kids (3 and 5) absolutely LOVE Kids Stuff and almost beg for it every time we're in the car. With my Stiletto I'm recording a bunch of the songs and will eventually dump a bunch of them onto CD.

We tried it a year ago and found it was too focused on nursery rhymes and things. Thought it used to be too boring. Now we all think it's great. Everything from the Wiggles to songs from movies they recognize (i.e. Mary Poppins, The Lion King, Monsters Inc.)

The kids think it's really fun. Everything from the "Thomas the Train" theme to "A spoon full of sugar". Even though we hear lots of repeats, it's way better than listening to the same old kids CDs over and over.

Default Beyond the Sea

The song Beyond the Sea is actually in the credits of Finding Nemo, so kids know it by that movie. It's so funny to hear little ones tell you a song is from such and such movie, when you've heard it for years and know that it existed waaaay before their time, or even ours for that matter!!

The song Beyond the Sea is actually the credits song after Finding Nemo!

Enough "All Together Now" please!

Just because they have some children singing doesn't make a Beatles cover band kids music.

Kidstuff is GREAT. Yes they play some off the wall stuff from time to time, but overall it is grreat for a pretty wide age range. For comparison I occasionally try XM's kid station (via Directv) and it is HORRIBLE absolutely HORRIBLE. My daughter is just shy of 2 years old so the Wiggles and Elmo type songs are her favorite. XM is more towards age 9 and up. I am a big fan of kidstuff and hope they keep it up.
I often use Kidstuff and Sirius Christmas varieties as a comparison to why I love Sirius so much more than XM. Even XM's kids station and their Christmas selections stunk BIG TIME.

I do the same! It is great to have a little Elmo on hand at all times.

My daughters (2 & 4) love Kids Stuff. The Beyond The Sea they play is probably the Robbie Williams cover from the Finding Nemo soundtrack. Usually when it's a well-known song like that, it's a tie-in to a movie or TV show (e.g. "We Are Family" by Dora The Explorer with Carlos Santana).

My problem with the channel lately is the lazy programming (granted, this seems to be a problem with a lot of the Sirius channels). OK, I understand that Laurie Berkner is a popular children's folk singer, but come one, if I save her in my Artist Alert on my Starmate, the damned thing would be beeping every 4 minutes!!! Even the Wiggles are overplayed. Why can't they mix it up? Throw in some Bob McGrath, Raffi, Priscilla Hardiman, Keb Mo, whatever. Anything other than Wiggles>Berkner>Sippy Cups>Berkner>Wiggles>Berkner>KIDS STUFF!!!>Berkner>Wiggles>Muppets>Berkner!
