Default How do people listen to Bill O'Reily's Show?

It's culture warrior this....culture warrior that. I feel like I'm listening to a infomercial for his book. I couldn't take it anymore and stopped listening.

Have you read his book? I have and enjoyed it. When I hear him say "culture warrior" now, I have a better understanding of what he's referring to. If you had a radio program and you used, or coined, a phrase in a book, wouldn't you use that phrase on your your radio and tv programs to sell more books?

At least we still have the option to do as you did and stop listening or change the channel.

Speaking of O'Reilly, did any of you guys watch the Colbert Report on Thursday when Bill was his guest? Oh man. When they showed a picture of "Culture Warrior" it had a 30% off sticker right over O'Reilly's head. I laughed my ass off. I heard somewhere that they didn't even have to put the sticker on them themselves, they just went to Barnes & Noble and bought a copy. In your face Bill!

I haven't looked yet but I bet the interview is on YouTube.

There's a culture war in O'Rly's head. Fox News in generally, and O'Reily in particular, make up news stories in an attempt to boost ratings. A few whackjobs on either side of a cultural spectrum yelling at each other doesn't amount to a war, although Bill would certainly have you think differently.

All these political talking heads only want you to buy in to their bullshit! They all have something too sell.. from door mats, coffee mugs, neck ties, to furniture. whatever happen to good old "just report the news" and let us the general public form our own opinions.. now days the analyst and reporters seem to just form our opinions for us, then turn a profit from it!

That's why I listen to Alan Colmes almost nightly. He's takes no bullshit and gives it right back. I think he has the best radio on radio right now.

I think it's all a schtick.. Rarely do I listen but when I happen to come across it, seems it could be fake as much as it could be real.. but then perhaps I'm delusional that anyone could be that much of an ass

I agree. I can't take the guy. Before Sirius, I tried listening to him and other terrestrial hacks. There was nothing else on. I think the worst was Mike Gallager. Worse even than Limbaugh. Their popularity is hard to understand.

Now that I have Sirius, I never have to bother with those guys again.

Glen Beck is about the bottom of my list... him and Savage. I can't even listen to either without feeling dumber by the minute.

although I don't buy into any of their bull I think there is a place in this country for folks to express their views on the issues. I think its very healthy for the country to have a dialog with each other. What I dislike is when people only listen to one side or "personality" and take their word as gospel..

O'Reilly is a bit of a blowhard, not quiet as eriudite as he thinks himself. But, he does a pretty good job at news analysis and letting opposing sides discuss issues. He doesn't let his guests get away with reciting talking points and calls BS on BS.

I read two of his books on the plane to MX and back a year or so ago. Wasn't particularly impressed. Havn't read culture warrior but when I finish the two books I'm currently reading I think i'll pick it up.

He's a little tough to pin down on ideology. He's catholic therefore pro life but I believe he opposes capital punishment. When he starts ranting about CEO salaries and oil company profits he sounds like a big time lefty.

After switching him on, I drive an icepick into my ear and scramble my brains around for a while, until I start to believe a single word he says. That's how I listen. Cutting off the mike of your guest when you start to lose the "argument" is hardly "discussion."
