The decades streams should play exactly what was being played back in that era. The 70s stream should include all the songs that were hits in the 70s rock, disco, pop, and even some country. Who remembers Eddie Rabbit, Kenny Rogers, Dolly Parton? They all had cross-over hits. I remember listening to the radio back then and would hear Blue Oyster Cult's "The Reaper", followed by Olivia Newton-John's "Have You Even Been Mellow" and then Kenny Rogers singing "Ruby". The 70s was such a hodge-podge of sounds. I want to be able to hear all of the hits, not have to switch to a rock station to hear 70s rock, an R&B station to hear 70s R&B, etc.

Indeed.

Whatever happened to, from the Manifesto:

Music doesn't like being categorized?

I agree, the decades should not be typecast into white rock stuff.

Just as we need a 90s stream that covers the whole spectrum (dance, rap, ska, rock, pop), I think the 70s should be pop, soul, r&b, rock, disco, funk and blues.

I have heard horror stories from DJ's about the 70's when I complain about train wreck programming with modern music.

The decades of the 50s thru the 80s was Top 40- true top 40. This included all types of musical styles (pop/rock/metal/country/r&b/funk/) being on one station..not as it is so deeply seperated now. Its exactly as Joybandit says, you could be listening to Aerosmith and up pops the BeeGees next, followed by Eddie Rabbit, then some BTO, Andy Kim, and Earth Wind & Fire. That was true top40 radio. This is what decades should be like on Sirius. If you dont like it, then you can go to another stream that plays just one genre of that music. lets make some noise and fix this.

Thanks for your support, everyone. Glad I am not
the only one who is frustrated here.

We are trying to make noise -- now only if the Sirius
Backstage administration would allow this thread to sit
in a more mainstream forum so it gets noticed by the
folks at Sirius.

Something else I noticed......

Sirius plays the butchered versions of many of their songs.
The cool thing about the XM Radio 70s decade was that they
always played the album version of a song. This morning I
heard Sirius butcher Come Sail Away, a 5 minute
song that Sirius played in under 3 minutes.

I hope this channel gets their act together. The lack of
commercials is a BIG plus, but the total disregard for music
on the 70's channel is a huge minus.

Yes, Sirius does play butchered versions of songs, but they also play different versions of the same song on different streams. I hear on version of a tune on the Pulse, another version might appear on the Trend, and yet another will appear on Hot Jamz. It just depends on which stream you are listening to.

I know the same is true if you compare 70's to the Rock and the Bridge.

Check out some of the Rock streams and some of the R&B Streams. You might find what you want and something else that you like. Soul Revu is plays a lot of 70's music as well.

Jeez, I just sounded like someone that works for Sirius. :\ It disgusts me when I defend something when I also find the same faults.

Defending something when you also find the same faults...sounds like "Don't you DARE pick on my brother...that's MY job!"

Yep, you is now an official part of the Sirius FAMILY. You have gone beyond customerhood. And by the way, no one is more hyper-critical (and sometimes hypocritical) than family!
