This is funny. Just as I read this, they started playing 'The Cars...Magic' LOL.

I spent my teens in the 80's, but I like 60's music better.

This is the first time I've ever heard Sirius being accused of playing obscure songs.

Usually it's continuous complaints about them being "too repetitive" and "only playing the hits".

thats what im saying too repetitive!!

there are 10 years in which they play maybe 1/100 of the entire decade.
And when they play the popular artists like Madonna, Duran Duran, Huey Lewis, The Cars, 38 Special, Billy Idol, George Michael, Bruce Springsteen, INXS, etc. They only play like 1 or 2 of their songs!!!

How about the tons of one hit wonders, or stuff like Milli Vanilli, MC Hammer, Vanilla Ice, Weird Al "Eat It", Axl F, Miami Vice Theme, Rico Suave, Frankie Goes To Hollywood, Falco, there are so many more. And i listen all day @ work as well as in my car i never hear any of these!!! Some of them arent the best songs but they make you say damn i remember that one!!

PLEASE NO MORE CARS!!!

OMG AND NO MORE FRIGGIN VAN HALEN JUMP AAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

They should maybe have "Jukebox From Hell" feature like the '70s channel has.

Hey, that's great, I didn't know. Do they do this often?

As a huge 80's listener I would have to disagree to some extent.

I just dumped XM because of the obscure songs being played all the time including the 80's decades. It was like trying to catch a song I even heard of every so often over there.

DTV has a good rotation but Sirius has the best. Maybe they do need to expand into the "pop rock" a bit more but over all its the hits of the 80's and really enjoy the music.[/quote]

I'm a moderate 80's fan, but rarely listen to XM and Sirius's 80's channels. However, I've been trying to listen to XM 80's a bit more to see how obscure the tunes are over there. I've managed to sample a lot now, and I've rarely heard anything on that station that would be obscure to a fan of the era. What songs have you heard that you feel are obscure?

Obscure might be the wrong word to use. Each of us has an idea on the style of music one wants to listen to, and found Sirius to fit mine.

Enjoy

The Big 80s is one of the channels that I expected to like a lot more then I do . I have it as a preset but almost never listen. They tend to feature the stuff from the 80s that I never liked. Seems like I always turn it on when they are playing Madonna, or Heuy Lewis, or Paula Abdul or some garbage like that.

Fergz99, this means you're hoping to hear more "A Flock Of Seagulls", "Talking Heads", "Men Without Hats", or "Duran Duran" maybe? Me, too!! Heh, the classic '80s sound. They do play them sometimes, but not enough, really.

Yeah I'm was hoping that it would sound more a John Hughes soundtrack. I just was never a huge fan of MTV pop. First Wave plays alot of this kind of music so i get my fix there.

I agree with you on this. I get my 80's fix with Hair Nation and the 80's. However, I would like to hear more Tears for Fears, Phil Collins and Falco and less Madonna and The Cars.
