Default Big 80's Countdown Mess up

Nina is counting down this week in 1985. Just introduced The Thompson Twin's song "Lay Your Hands on Me" and Bon Jovi's 1989 song Lay Your Hands on me is playing. Oooops!

I was listening to this, and I thought that 1985 sounded pretty early for that song. I didn't put two and two together, though. That's pretty funny.

They also could have played an entirely different "Lay Your Hands on Me" by Peter Gabriel, from 1982.

I don't know what exactly is involved in producing a countdown show vs. normal Sirius programming, but the 80s countdown seems to have more errors than most- this was the biggest one I've heard though. I felt pretty geeky for noticing and didn't say anything, but I feel better now.

Maybe I'm just being hard on it because back in the 80's, playing the hits was my dream job and I listened to Casey Kasem, who always got the small stuff right, religiously.

I bash this show more than any other, yet I listen every week. Mostly, I love hearing the more obscure stuff I forgot about, that didn't get above #30.

Default 1987-1988

I realize that 2 weeks ago would have technically been a 1987 countdown and today it's a 1988 countdown, but when preparing today's Big 40, wouldn't you think someone would have said, "Hey wait a minute.... didn't we just have "I've Had the Time of My Life" and "Pop Goes the World" in a countdown?"

I am definitely leaning towards the people who put this show together not really giving a damn about it, which is hard when it's something I'd love to have the chance to do every week.

Ahhhh, now it's "Honestly" by Stryper again

I agree entirely, that irritated me as well. It's as if a computer randomly selects the years, but someone should have realized that Dec '87 is too close to Jan '88

Gotta love voice tracking. On a semi-related note, while listening to Napster on my computer this past week. I imported some of my own CD's and when a track from the Beatles "Let It Be" album came on, the album artwork showed the cover for The Replacements album also called Let It Be (great album but nothing to do musically with The Beatles).

Does anyone know where there is a list of what weeks the Big 80's Countdown will be highlighting over the next couple of months?

Sirius DJ's do not put the playlists together, they have people to do the requests and such and put together a playlist for the DJ's to play when voicetracking. (100% true)
