Default Is the Bridge Gone For Good?

I'm starting to get the sense that the Bridge (formerly on Channel 10) will not come back, even when (if) the Who Channel ends. There is no mention of the Bridge anywhere on the web site. Usually, they have some statement like "The ??? Channel is on hiatus while we offer you this super special short term (we promise) once in a lifetime experience." There's nothing like that at all. I don't think the Bridge will ever be back.

It's surprising, because if I had to pick one pop channel to drop permanently it would have been Movin' Easy (ch. 4). The Bridge seemed to have a lot of fans. It doesn't make sense.

The same thing happened last year when they had an all Bruce Springsteen channel on in place of the bridge. I think they switched back in January, so we'll see.

IIRC there was some kind of disclaimer during the Springsteen channel assuring us that the Bridge would return. No such disclaimer this time around.

These concert/new album tie-ins that Sirius has done with Springsteen, the Stones, and the Who are just bad ideas. They kill listener loyalty and ruin Sirius' station branding. I'd be all for "Springsteen Weekends" on the Bridge or "All Who, All Night" or something, but to take an entire station away for months and months is just poor. They've whored themselves out for cash.

The Globe has been gone forever it seems for Kidney Stones radio, so I wouldn't doubt that the Bridge is gone too.

If it's any help whatsoever, the bridge's channel page is still online and viewable via www.sirius.com/thebridge

On hte page it exclaims: "THE BRIDGE IS UNDER CONSTRUCTION

The Bridge will be closed for renovations starting September 21st. Channel 10 will become The Who Channel, dedicated to playing music exclusively from The Who. You can still hear all the artists played on The Bridge on other SIRIUS channels like The Spectrum ch.18, Radio Margaritaville ch.31, The Coffee House ch.30 or Movin' Easy ch.4.

Keep listening for the return of The Bridge to SIRIUS Satellite Radio! "

Take that as you like.

However, the same can be said about The globes page, www.sirius.com/theglobe... Where it reads:
"ROLLING STONES RADIO
The biggest band in rock just got its own channel—and it's only on SIRIUS.
Find out more.

The Globe is Under Construction!
Don't worry, Soundscapes and the world music that you love returns to SIRIUS soon. During the construction, Larry Kirwan's Celtic Crush can be heard on SIRIUS Disorder // Ch. 24.

SIRIUS always listens to your comments and suggestions, so check back here for a new name and channel number in the coming weeks. Thank you for your patience. "

So, it's hard to say if these channels will return or not.

That means nothing, I'm afraid. From the main web page there's no way to access the page you've highlighted. It still exists in cyberspace, but only if you manually type it in. That doesn't prove that the channel is coming back. In fact if you click the following link, you'll still find the page of one of my favorite channels that ain't comin' back any time soon:

I'm sure when the tour is over so will the channel. I would not doubt that by this time next year there will be a dedicated channel for stuff.

How about a 90s Seattle rock station??? I believe it's time as that other "90s" station is just GARBAGE.

F'n HOOTIE AND THE BLOWJOBS is NOT what I call a good representation of what came out of the 90s. Rather gag myself to death on Brittney Spears's gunt herps.

I agree with you 100%. The Bridge was one of my favs, but I also was hoping the Globe would get kicked off, because SIRIUS really has no world music programming.

One thing we all know for sure is that SIRIUS hasn't a clue how to build and maintain listener loyalty as proved by the many piss poor decisions they have made over the past year or two. The fact is that SIRIUS needs to fire all the upper management in the programming department.

Include general op's and engineering in that firing too, please.

The Who really shouldn't have their own channel. They are a GREAT and legendary band and all but I really don't think they deserve their own channel.

The ONLY bands that deserves their own channel are Led Zeppelin and The Beatles and we all know that option two can't happen.

Screw these artist only stations.

I also noticed that one channel, I think the vault...can't remember for sure, was mentioning that this weeks "artist of the week" was the Who. Why in the world would you have a whole channel dedicated to one band, and then give them an artist of the week run on another channel?

DAB ! You've seen the light. It's been a while since I've poked my head into Sirius Backstage, but it seems I'm not the only one who gave up on Sirius.
What has happened to them, seems they lost all of their creative people ?

I was hoping they would have beefed up their programming by now but it appears they really don't care about their listening music audience. Really a shame, they were the best ! No doubt, but no longer for sure.
