Default No More Doo-wop Drive In?

Well first they fire Bob T. and now ditch the Doo-Wop Drive In. It's time to go to XM. Since they couldn't get their heads outta their rumps to straighten out that mess they were doin they just flush it away. I'll be sure to tell Dish Network why I'm switching to Direct. Thanks for nothing Sirius.

Before you go, check out the new show on Sirius Gold (I listened last week and it was terrific; I bet you'll like it):

Doo Wop Gold
Wednesdays 9 pm ET
We love Doo Wop - join SIRIUS every Wednesday night beginning at 9pm ET for Doo Wop Gold - three hours of Doo Wop including live caller requests, in-depth artist profiles, exclusive interviews, rare concert performances and original hit recordings from the biggest and best-loved music legends of the 1950s rock and pop era, including Johnny Maestro and The Brooklyn Bridge, The Duprees, Little Anthony and The Imperials, The Skyliners, The Flamingos, The Five Satins and hundreds more.Hosted by TJ Lubinsky, executive producer and director of the public television My Music and American Soundtrack series of music specials featuring artists from the 1950s, ‘60s ‘70s, as well as the very popular Doo Wop 50.

Call TJ on Wednesday nights at 1.888.294.8585!

Rebroadcast Sunday nights at 9pm ET.

Smile Not To Take Anything Away From "tj"

I have to say that "TJ's" show was really "AWESOME". He played songs that were missing from some of the other shows, and if you were lucky enought to have your song played that was a bonus!!!

The thing that I really have a problem with is the Sunday night show being "REBROADCAST". I put it on Sunday Night and I thought that I could take hearing the same song's, same interview's and the same people calling in for their request. If you didn't know that it was a repeat, you would be on the phone all night hearing a busy signal in your ear, and wasting your time trying to get through because "TJ" keeps on telling you to call.

If all of the other DJ's such as, Norm N Night, Cousin Brucie and the others, if they can have shows that are not rebroadcasted, then why the heck can't the fan's of the 50's music deserve the same kind of respect.

I really expected more from someone as well known as "TJ" to give his audience more then what we are getting.

When he is on PBS and trying to keep the music alive and the PBS station he knows how to put a show on then.

I'm really disappointed in him, as far as Sirius, well it's all about the money, I've been trying long enought now to try to get the same respect as the other stations.

Sirius

Bob "T" you are still very much missed, and Raechel Donahue, maybe you were the lucky ones.

Default Doo Wop drive in

You're right they had a good thing and ruined it. If you want to hear top forty doo wop, buy a greatest hits cd.
The doo wop drive-in gave us more than that.

Tj should be thanked for the PBS shows he did, but the show isn't worth the time, if you really have doo wop in your blood you don't want to listen to a request show.
How about the guy who wanted to hear "tonight could be the night" and then said he has the Velvets CD. HMMM !
Could it have been a setup so TJ could tell his story ?

I complained to Sirius and got no reply I guess they don't think there's enough of us to matter.

XM is probably the way to go.

Why take the doo wop drive-in off the air Sunday and play a repeat ????
Is it just my setup or does the sound also suck on his show ?

Smile I Love The Old Sound Quality

As far as the sound goes, you have to take into consideration, that some of the songs being played from back in the 50's have a life of their own and thats what makes them special. I like hearing the sound that has stayed with some of the original songs, thats when you know you are listening to the real thing.

I have tuned into TJ's show a couple of times now and let me say it's a pretty good show he has going here on sirius. I especially like the fact that he has live calls coming into his shows like cuz brucie does. I just wish more of the dj's on sirius had live callers on the air. Anyways I think Tj is a good replacement for Bob T.

Yes, I admit being hasty. I do like TJ's show....but, he talks over the music a bit much. I do appreciate all he's doing for doo-wop, though. I like the concept of the show. As far as being a replacement for Bob T.? Well, I'm biased... I think there is no replacement for Bob T. I love doo-wop and continue to look for quality shows. At least TJ doesn't use a cowbell like Bobby B on XM. I just think there was room for both Bob T. and TJ. We miss you Bob.

Smile It Took Me Some Time Also

kellyftpayne it also has taken me some time to get use to no "Drive In" on Sunday nights, I still (can't help it) would like to hear Bob "T's" voice. He was a special ......

So now it's "TJ's" chance to take us back to the Doo-Wop time without going to the "Drive In". If the show's are bad it's not "TJ's" fault, it's the fan's that call in to make requests. It's up to us......

There are somethings I am now starting to agree with you on. I'm just getting tired of the repeat on Sunday Night....

Sirius really can come up with something to make everyone happy!
