With the 70s songs on a modern rock stream, I'd take a wild guess and say that they surprised just about everybody.

Well if that's the case, the description for the stream should be updated. Who's not to say radical changes on other streams will pick up where they left off.

I wish I had a better grasp on the rock streams, but I rarely listen to them, besides The Trend.

You all have to admit that the spin they put in that email was ridiculous and an insult to any rock fan. They would have been better off not responding untill all the changes were implimented. I still would like to know the author of that email.

The email sounded like it came from a SJ and so is understandable in the casual format it was.

Anyone that expects the streams to stay the same over time is fooling themselves. They will tweak continually over time to try to optimize the service for the largest audience. I'm sure XM does the same thing and would probably be noticeable if you listened to only one XM stream.

I personally don't listen to Octane so I don't know how bad it is, but hearing Led Zepplin on it certainly wouldn't turn me off.

Well the thing is, the reason why you don't listen to Octane, and the reason why you wouldn't mind hearing Zeppelin on it, are the same, ya kinda get what I mean? There shouldn't be that genre-busting song thrown in there for the sake of variety, and I'm pretty sure that if we politely write in to sirius to get a clue (haha, kidding), that they will take the hint and realize that this is a bad idea. It's not like this is one stream of many, Octane is the only place for modern rock on Sirius, (As opposed to XM, which has the previously mentioned Squizz and Ethel), so to take away this stream's content, takes away a large, and very popular, genre. I reccomend everyone has vested interest in keeping Octane the same, because who is to say they don't start doing this to Country, Pop, etc, and also it brings in customers, which helps the dog from being put to sleep. It is up to us to steer the ship, they are doing this because we wanted less repeats, now we have to let them know we don't want variety that doesn't fall in place with the genre. I'm confident that if we all work together, we can get the ship back on track, I mean the anti-repeat email campaign started only weeks ago, and it got resolved.

Maybe it is just me, but that email WAS an insult. It's like: YOU PEOPLE CAUSED THIS...YOU DO NOT WANT REPEATS...OKAY, FINE, WE WILL SHOW YOU NO REPEATS!

Anyway, keep sending feedback, I have. Let's see what happens.

And trust me, XM is even more eclectic than SIRIUS ever thought of being.

Thanks, too, to Blink. Something IS up.

I too am incredibly aggrivated, but only to a certain extent. I say that because AltNation has now become what I always wanted Octane to be. The only thing that bugs me about it is that it should be Octane, not AltNation... and AltNation should play something 'alternative' and never ever does.

Many channels on XM are exactly like 2 years ago.

They still have the fake Zappa on 51 and they still play PeeWee Herman right before Pantera on 41.

Sirius will never have a substantial audience if they ignore the people they have already.

They need to ignore the consultants and OPEN THE PHONES!!!

Well guys, start writing letters. Let them know it's not okay to be playing 70's music on the modern rock stream, tell them that you don't feel it's alright to be playing modern rock on the adult contemporary channel, let them know that Alt Nation should be for New Age Alternative music, not half watered-down octane and half Alt Nation. We can do this if we all make the effort to politely, and intelligently point out these things and why we want them. If 300 people email/call them, 300 people can't be wrong.

Call Sirius at 212 584 5100.

The toll free Customer (why should we) Care lines do not go to Sirius. That is an off-campus boiler room full of liars and excuse makers.

I really really really really miss Rock Hits.. now more than ever. Octane has become wierd lately... i'm not a big fan of the old 80's rock... although I did hear a Megadeath song the other day, while it probably doesn't fit into octane its still a cool song...

BRING BACK ROCK HITS!!!!

We should not have to do this. Just like we should not have had to let them know that repitition is unacceptable. Just like we should not have had to let them know that killing the 90s channel was unacceptable.

Exactly. You dont listen to the channel. So, while I am not disrespecting your right to have an opinion, your opinion on the matter should not even be acknowledged.

The jokey that replied to my email was Pete Gustin.

Although, I imagine he's not alone. I'll bet the majority of the stream jokeys enjoy playing 70s and 80s tunes, since that is the music they grew up listening to.

I just dont agree with, amount other things, having anyone's musical tastes imposed on me.

Oh, and the 'lers got trounced. :\
