Which is really the thing I never understood about this. The Rock is for music like this, Octane is for modern rock, why have a modern rock stream, if it is going to play The Rock's music. I mean, you don't hear Marilyn Manson after Led Zeppelin on The Rock. People listen to Octane because they like that music more than The Rock, and vice versa. Granted, I'm loving the new Alt Nation, I think it's awesome, it's like Octane 2, I think I'll call it Diesel from now on. Personally, I didn't feel that there was THAT huge of a market for Coldplay, Radiohead, and those type bands for one stream to be entirely dedicated to it, but I like how it's got a good mix of both mainstream, and the more trendy stuff it had before. But give me my damn Octane back

Hahaha diesel! That's a good one.

Yeah altnation is really picking up steam now. It still has it's problems, though. I feel kind of bad for the people who liked altnation the way it was.

Too bad Octane has become nearly unlistenable.

But keep up the good fight, my friend.

I was | | that close to writing a letter to Sirius saying, "My radio says Octane, it says it's on Stream 20, but I keep hearing music from the 70's on it every now and again. Should I send my radio in for service?"

The music programmer (Jose Mangin) was just on OutQ and said Octane is now an Active Rock format.

HAHAHA
"Dear Justin,

Thank you for contacting SIRIUS regarding the format of Alt Nation. We
have not changed the format of this stream. If we were to change a
stream, we would make an announcement regarding the changes.

Your feedback regarding our programming is extremely important to us.
We are dedicated to providing the most variety and best listening
experience available anywhere.

Sincerely,

Sara "
In an attached press release, every single Sirius unit ever made needs to be returned the it's point of purchase, because apparently they are all tuning into Octane instead of Alt Nation accidently.

I'm tellin ya, keep the format change (Keep some radiohead and coldplay on it still) call it Diesel, we'll have Octane, Diesel, US-1 and I-90. Where's XM's marketing now? They can't compete against a Sirius Nation.

Active Rock... Ha... The only active rock will be all the radio waves going through the one I chucked through the satellite at the broadcasting station.

So now apparently we are being lied to (or mislead) by Sirius?

Well I mean, technically, it is still Alternative. But it definitely isn't the same. They are just trying to see what works, make things better. I'd rather have them try to make things better, than let them be worse.

well kasmir from zeppelin isn't modern rock no matter how you cut it, so what then? i 'd love to hear whats goes on behind the scenes, turn one of the weather channels into an insiders channel so i can hear these people work. " dj: there seems to be a demand for a deeper playlist in modern rock, what should we do?" "exec: PLAY MORE ZEPPELIN!!11!!"

Hey, that would be nice to hear on the 70's channel I think I heard them play that on Labor Day weekend.

hahah!

That reminds me of that Christopher Walken skit from SNL:

"I've got a fever! And the only prescription is more cowbell!"

I dunno why, but it does!

Octane has gotten me to listen to TOP TRACKS more at least. Hearing good zepplin and what not when I least expect it leaves me craving it at times.

I'm not a big TOP TRACKS listener, so as thrilled as I was to be able to jam out to FREE BIRD and some other great classics, I can totally imagine how obnoxious it would get to hear those songs on a daily basis. I'm almost afraid to listen to top tracks more often...though, i really am digging what i've heard.

Funny, that is how I felt about a LOT of that stuff the first time around. Then again, back then, most radio stations played a WIDE variety of music. Peter, Paul and Mary followed by Black Sabbath followed by the 1910 Fruit Gum Company. Deejays, not consultants, decided playlists.

And if Sirius truly allowed and played listener requests, many streams would sound like that. Though I, like many of you, at first think that would be an improvement, as I look back I know better.
