Default Alt Nation - too much repetition and overlap?

I had been noticing there were a lot of songs repeating a little too often for my tastes on Alt Nation and that I was hearing the same songs on Alt Nation and Octane around the same time and was wondering if I was the only person noticing this. I thought satellite radio was supposed to give listeners more variety than FM, but it's hard to see that when artists are being played literally once every two hours. A quick check of yesterday's Mediabase playlist on Alt Nation shows that songs by Coldplay, The Beastie Boys, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Strokes and Stone Temple Pilots all aired on the stream once every two hours (in some cases, a little less, and in some cases, a little more -- but never more than three hours) and The Foo Fighters, 311 and Offspring were on every three-four hours. How are you supposed to play variety when you're just rotating the same artists around?

Also, last night while driving home, I heard the new Incubus song, then flipped to Octane when it was done and the same song came on less than five minutes later. I've heard the new Stone Temple Pilots song played on both streams at the same time as well.

Anyone else hearing the same stuff over and over?

That would be a big 10-4 Good Buddy. Big Rock is just as bad...so bad in fact, that I cannot listen to that stream anymore.

I'm with you too. Although I will say that it seems to be better during the day, the 6pm - 12am time is when I think it's the worse. It makes me wonder if the stream jockeys pick the playlists or if it's preset somehow.

Mainly I can't stand Madison. Everytime she opens her mouth I need to change the station. I know she gets wet for Dashboard Confessional, orgasms for Coldplay, etc....

I guess I'd just rather hear the music and not hear the shock jock commentary.

That was slightly off-topic, but I know she is a huge fan of many of the bands that play during her time, which is why I wonder if the stream jockeys have control over the playlists.

If you check out some of the other threads this repetition of artists & songs is a big problem on many, many of the streams. So I really doubt the SJ's pick the playlists.
Big Rock does seem to be one of the worst offenders. I can't listen to them anymore either.

Coldplay is overexposed on many streams not just AltNation.

In addition to alt nation, I would also to in The Trend and 1st Wave. Organic has its issues as well with this.

while I do agree. What do you expect. They have to appeal to everyone. BTW - the new Incubus song rocks!

Repetition is very high. On Backspin, for example, they ALWAYS play Fat Boys (That "In Jail Because We Failed" Song and The Fat Boys are Back) and way too much Public Enemy. Left of Center plays a hell of a lot of Mates of State.

This site has staggering power to stem the repetition by its posters being very open in describing it to potential subscribers. XMFan will no doubt help us do so. The question is whether we're willing to put Sirius's growth and destiny in jeopardy by doing this, and whether the site owner and moderators will permit us to.

I'm all for openness and honesty. Let's not ignore the elephant in the corner. Sirius is great, and it has just a few more hurdles between it and near-perfection.

So there IS an elephant in the corner!

I was afraid I had had too much to drink last night!

Now, can you ask him/her/it to please turn to gray like normal elephants? That pink is really hurting my head!

i dunno if it's just me, but i find in the wee hours of the morning or late night that 20 - Octane and 21 - Alt Nation play deeper cuts and have no repeats.
