Default Hard Attack

Does anybody know which DJ is the PD of Hard Attack? I have a few questions I have to ask him because of the recent repetition on the station.

Hard Attack rules! However, sometimes they do wear a song out. Case in point, "In the Arms of God" by COC. They finally started playing another song off their new album, but it took awhile. Seems like when a new album comes out, they play one song from it for awhile, then switch to another song for awhile, rinse, repeat. Instead of playing BYOB by System of a Down 4 times a day, why not play it 3 times, and throw in another song off the record that one time? That way you play the "hit" and give the other stuff some time too. That's my only gripe with Hard Attack. Other than that they all do an AWESOME job.

The same exact thing happens on LOC. Makes me think this is a directive from above rather than a decision of a stream's PD. The industry term is "pounding" a song. Sirius takes this too far on genre/niche streams - taking one, often arbitrary, song and playing it ad naseum, while ignoring every other song on the album.

the thing about hardattack is that they play the most requested songs alot.. like the remake of swisted sisters song.. now i love burn in hell, both versions.. but i am sure they dont play it just because.. soo give them a call and request a different song.. if more people do that the play list will grow... just call them .

Thats the thing I don't get about people who request songs. I bet 3/4's of all the requests are for songs that are on their rotation.

If your going to request somthing pick somthing the DJ has to hunt down and dust off!

Mass Appeal Madness by Napalm Death
Overkill by Motorhead
Horrified by Repulsion

The more variety in requests the better!

I bet I can hear several songs 3 times a day or more since I listen 8 hours at work!

I was driving home from work yesterday and I was just getting out of the traffic part when Ian Christie played Electric Eye by Judas Priest. Haven't heard that one in awhile. So I put the peddle to meddle and enjoyed the flight!

But you guys are right, some music gets overplayed, Megadeth, System of a Down (don't they belong on Octane), COC. They try to play the hits, though, and also make good on everyone's request.

Speaking of requests, since they are not instantaneous, they should atleast get back to you with an email letting you know when your request will be played. The only time I heard any request played that I had requested was when I requested Symphony No. 4 by Johannes Brahms for a Special Brahms vs Beethoven day on the classical channel.

Otherwise, if you don't hear your request, what is the point of making it in the first place?

actualy they do that.

ive gotten three requests played on hard attack and each time i got an email. other requests ive never gotten replys on and did not hear them get played.

the songs i requested and got a reply on were
Pantera - 10's
Acid Bath - Jezebel(didnt get played till 2AM though)
Genghis Tron - Rock Candy(man they wore that song out)

the email says something to the nature of:
"thank you for your request. we have passed it on to our DJ's"

True, its been overplayed and for that matter, I can't stand it.

As for the notification, that's just an automated, feelgood, we are not blowing off you, we really don't care about your request but we don't want you to know this, message. What I would like to see is some sort of response that at least gives you a time of when they might play your request.

Hey what's up? First time ever posting here. I am also an XM subscriber. I got that in 2002. I got Sirius in Aug. 2003. I've had it now for two years!! I don't know how many people know, but back in Feburary, XM cut their metal channel out of their lineup. XM Subscribers didn't have a choice of metal over there at all for three months until the created a metal show on their hard rock channel. If you care, and would like to help the unfortunate listeners there you can go to http://www.petitiononline.com/liqmetal/ and sign the petition there. If you are a Sirius Subscriber, and you enjoy metal, you ought to give your 100% support for Hard Attack. Right now, it is the ONLY metal channel on satellite radio. There are XM subscribers that are metal fans that are envying Sirius right now. Support Hard Attack, so it doesn't end up as the same fate as Liquid Metal. After all, it is the ONLY 24 hour metal channel on satellite radio. Thank God for Hard Attack!!!

then why would we petition to give XM a metal channel if we have the monopoly so to speak. that would just be taking subs from sirius and giving them to XM. which in turn could cause them to cut hard attack.

Ha ha. You know...you do have a point there. If you only have a Sirius Radio, you got a very good point indeed. I did throw in there, "If you care." Since I do have both, I'm more of an impartial person here. I was really thinking about the metal world, and how they would benefit. I however do see if you're only have Sirius, you probably would want to see XM go down. Who knows? They did lose NASCAR! Sirius has all the major play by play sports! After 2006, all XM will have is baseball, and golf. Not much, huh?
That's the reason why I also say hold on to that metal channel! It's now the only one of its kind!!

The problem with Liquid Metal is that they played too much obscure music and they played just about every so on the albumns. I can take only so much vampire mooose in a single sitting.

What I found funny was a couple of years ago (when I had XM) XMLM had a send in your requests for all day request line up and guess what you heard? Mostly what I would call mainstream metal: Iced Earth, Maiden, Slayer, Sepaltura, etc, and hardly any of the stuff they normally played.

Right after that, I previewed Sirius' Hard Attack online and I was sold!

As for signing the petition, I say don't, because if you do, you might be taking subs away from Sirius. This is business boys!!!! Every Sub counts.

while i agree it would be better for the metal world i cant see that justfying possibly losing my all time favorite music channel.
