Judging by both of your stated dislike for XM's Boneyard, don't you actually consider a lot of 80's metal crap? Like them or hate them, the majority of what they play is 80's metal, just not always the hits.

Maybe you should clarify the statement by stating that you don't think any 80's metal "hits" are crap

Sorry for the misunderstanding. I never complained about 80's metal. I complained about the "b-side repeats" that Cl was throwing at us. The Boneyard back then was titled "stadium rock and hair bands"

Actually the Boneyard is just fine if you like second rate hits. There is nothing wrong with that.

Boneyard and HN are two different rock formats. HN focus is on the mainstream hits and Boneyard plays B-side cuts with a splash of a hit every so often.

I wanted to hear hit after hit after hit and found it with HN.

Again nothing wrong with either rock format, if thats your cup of tea.

I have had XM for three years and just cancelled yesterday because of the decreased sound quality. HN could add some deeper cuts here and there but to me at least its far and away better than Xm's Boneyard. I can leave HN for hours at a time if need be and enjoy about every song. I could never leave Boneyard on for more than 30 minutes without changing the channel because of all the obscure stuff. I will say with the addition of Big Tracks they seem to be getting the message that there is a demand for more familar stuff and not just side B and obscure cuts.

Quite honestly I got tired of being told I needed to broaden my musical horizons. This is sat radio not an adult continuing education class! One of the big problems on XM is that the PDs like Charlie Logan have way too much control over what gets played and you wind up basically getting a playlist of what they like instead of what XM puts up on the channel page on their website. If you read the description of the channel it sounds like something I would love, but I wound up dissapointed. You are almost surprised when a song that was popular actually gets played.

So in conclusion, I will stick with Sirius and the rock channels over here. I agree they can be tweaked here and there, but I certainly hope they dont do a wholesale change in philosophy and adopt the musical elitism that infects so many XM channels. Plus I like the fact that most Sirius channels have Dj's on throughout the day, something XM is serioulsy lacking.

Listening to David Gilmour grind the guitar all week on The Vault defiantly made me comfortable and numb at times but as the Classic Judy Garland has said, There’s no place like home and glad to be back on the Classic Hair Nation.

Out with the spinning eye in the sky and in with my hair and leather.
