They don't censor the songs on Octane. If you hear the song on Alt Nation it will be censored and it's freak'n annoying!

So you're listening to Alt Nation and thinking "WOW, this channel really sucks...at least it can't get any worse"! With Madison constantly talking about her sex life and attempting to sing herself, A.D. laughing at his own damn jokes and always talking over the music, the overly annoying promos, the playlist of constantly repeated mainstream songs, and just the whole FM feel of the channel....boy are you in for a surprise!!

So, where in the hell are we supposed to hear uncensored Alternative rock music now? I don't see an Alt Nation 2 anywhere.

I found this site again for the same reason. I emailed CS and got a general reply that they appreciate my feedback.

I don't pay for this garbage, I pay for the real song, not an FM watered down version.

I give them a few weeks to fix this and if they don't, then I'm back to XM.

I was listening to Alt Nation this afternoon and, although I didn't hear any songs that had either edited or non-edited F's, I did notice that in one of their station ID's they went out of their way to mention that they're "uncensored alternative rock" (or something like that - but I KNOW I heard the word "uncensored").

What the F U C K ? ? ?

Default Umm

Can Sirius be this stupid? I've done some google searches, and the amount of chatter is growing about this monumental idiocy. Wait until the XM marketing department seizes on this little tid bit of turd dust. It'll make Sirius' "Only commerical free satradio" marketing campaign look like a game of checkers. As a matter of fact I hope XM rips Sirius apart for this bad move, that way they'll learn their lesson.
What Mel needs to understand is people switch to sat radio for a multitude of reasons, NOT JUST the commercial free aspect.

----
That being said, I tuned into late night Faction last night for the Tony Hawk show and they were cursing like druken sailors, sooooooo is it just the music or the DJ's?
----
Here's another obvious question. Since they're not using satellite band width to provide Sprint with these streams (sprint is providing the bandwidth) why would they even need to censor the originial stream? Can't they just duplicate the stream and censor as needed? Seems a TAD fishy to me.

I just dont understand this decision... Trying to censor Faction???? Isnt that supposed to be the closest to punk radio that Sirius has??

Next there will be a rule that bands who smash instruments or talk badly about people will no longer be played...

What happened to censorship_off??? (i have a shirt)

(normally I'd asterisk that, but in this thread, it's appropriate NOT to)

Default update...

Made it a point to listen to both Faction and Alt Nation last night after reading this thread. My prefunctory research has provided me with more questions.
I actually heard NIN's song "Only" on AltNation. And as the originial poster to this thread said, it was the censored version. Pissed off that I've confirmed this stupid move, I flip over to faction. Forgot what Green Day song it was but it was the first song I heard in its entireity after flipping and it was completely UNcensored. The fucks were intact, and ellis didn't seem to be holding back any.
So what gives??!!?!?

I think it's safe to say that Faction continues to remain uncensored...and will probably stay that way. Could you imagine the backlash from censoring Faction??

They havent gotten around to Faction yet as tonight I heard them play Trick Daddy's "Lets Go" which is a F-Fest LOL... (Lyrics at: http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/trickdaddy/letsgo.html if you care)

And I love their answer in another thread (out of context a bit) of
"As per our terms and conditions we have the right to change our programming at any time with or without notice to our customers."

Just because you can, doesnt mean you should...Why ruin a format that works...

Has anyone talked to a live person or have any other form of communication with Sirius confirming this?? The details are sketchy, and they aren't clear what they mean by "offering." Does that mean it's totally censored or during certain times, or whatever. It's frustrating hearing censored tunes on Alt Nation.

I just heard Sum 41's "Fat Lip" and Green Day's "Brian Stew" uncensored on Alt Nation...

Did Sirius listen to the complaints? Let's hope...

They should broadcast the uncensored version for paid subscribers like normal, but time-delay and censor the feed that they're giving Sprint. It would be easy to do with current technology. Actually, they could steam it via IP at a relatively low bit-rate. It's a cell phone, no one would know the difference. That way they can keep the contract with Sprint and keep paid subs happy.

Was in the car for 4 hours yesterday and heard a bunch of edited songs. Called Sirius and the girl that answered told me that Alt Nation decided to edit their songs and it is in Sirius' contract with Alt Nation.

I don't believe what she said and I think she had no idea what she was talking about.

Yeah, she's full of it. Why would they have a contract with individual stations?!
