George is broke fellas but Sirius is helping him a ton with the .01 cent per play he gets from Sirius. He now has a new ride and a mansion all on three songs they play 100,000 times a month

On my way into work at 8am eastern today, he was on CR and BS at the same time with "I Drink Alone," and "Bad to the Bone."

I wish I had never started this thread!

I heard it this morning too and wanted to puke my coffee. I thought of this thread. We really need more variety. If I hear Queen we are the champions one more time.

Not to be a wise-ass, but when you listen to classic rock channels, you're gonna hear the same popular songs over & over... You're gonna hear Satisfaction & Light My Fire until you want to puke...Theyre designed that way...

IMO, Sirius would be much better going deeper on each of the classic rock stations. Songs like Bad to the Bone does not need to be played everyday.
My Fm classic station plays songs that Sirius does not. What we need is more variety and better rotation.

There are 3 "official" classic rock channels that have different depths of playlists... "Theoretically" (I dont listen enough to them to know for sure), Vinyl should play Bad to the Bone & I Drink Alone a lot... While the Vault should play Maverick or Cocaine Blues and the lesser played stuff...

14 | CLASSIC VINYL - EARLY CLASSIC ROCK
The top tracks from classic rock's most formative years.

15 | CLASSIC REWIND - LATER CLASSIC ROCK
Classic rock's 2nd generation, with songs from the late '70s onward.

16 | THE VAULT - DEEPER CLASSIC ROCK
Deeper cuts from classic rock legends.

I tried to check the Song Seek feature on SBS to see how true they are to what I expect, but im getting the text of the SQL query but not the results..

Quote:
SELECT p.stream,s.songID, s.title, s.Artist, c.cName, date_format(p.Played, "%a %b %e, %Y %l:%i %p"), c.CategoryID, st.sName FROM ((Playlist as p inner join Songs as s on p.SongID = s.SongID) inner join Streams as st on st.sNumber = p.stream) inner join Categories as c on st.sCategoryID = c.CategoryID WHERE s.Artist LIKE 'thorogood' AND p.Stream in (16) AND 1 ORDER BY p.Played,s.Artist,s.Title LIMIT 0, 60

It is what it is...

It's an "oldies" format. When you listen to "classic rock", it's basically an "oldies" station.

Same thing when you go see bands like The Eagles or Kiss. It's an oldies show.

I know guys what a classic rock format is. Instead of killing us with Van Halen Jump how abot songs like Somebody give me a Doctor or Top Jimmy once in a while. Yes, they were played on the radio back in the eighties.

I hear ya... Im in the same boat with Thorogood's stuff... I would rather hear Sirius play "Maverick" over "Bad to the Bone" for the millionth time... (for the record, Maverick doesnt show up on Song Seek at all)... But I bet I am in the minority of wanting that to happen, and since radio wants to please the majority, it isn't going to happen anytime soon unless its a call-in request show...

I can understand their logic with Van Halen, because I am not really a huge fan of them (altho I am somewhat of a fan)... I like "Jump" over the songs you mentioned... I know "Top Jimmy", but I would probably change the channel if it was on... The other song I probably would know if I heard it, but I cant place it by the title alone...

My point is that as much as we would like it if they played our favorite bands lesser known songs, chances are that the majority of people wouildnt be interested in hearing it nearly as much as we would... So might as well just load up our iPods with the songs we want to hear...
