Dayparting might be the answer... those who are listening for less time daily will tend to listen during M-F 6am-12noon and 4-9pm ET. During those hours, go shallow while making the rest of the time deeper for those listening at work, driving long distances, etc.

By far, I'd say alt nation.

There's no reason why I should hear My Chemical Romance 15 times a day while passing through that station.

Ditto Green Day

I don't listen to alot of the channels on Sirius, but the ones I do listen to all seem to repeat. Whats worse is that some just say "change the channel" but on all of the stations I listen to I hear the same music. I am not meaning to sound negative, but I am am growing tired of the constant stream of AC/DC, Aerosmith, and other repeaters on Classic Vinyl, Classic Rewind, and buzzsaw.

Default The Vault claims to go deeper and deeper, etc, YEAH RIGHT

The "featured artist of the week" is bullshit...this week its my fav Dire Straits, and they have played all the same shit they always play, just more often. Their claim that they are the deepest station on the planet is total bullshit. Not to mention the opinionated Kristine Stone, who must blow half a gram before getting on her whiny soap box after every two or three songs...some of the shit she says is totally irrelevant, just play the music and skip the voice track. Does Xm have as many repeats?

The Vault is very good as far as rock station repetition goes. On some rock stations, you'll hear a decent number of songs played a few times a day, or at least once per day. The Vault usually goes 3-4 days between playing the same song again, which is a decent amount of time. They do have a bit of artist repetition (playing the same core artists every 2 hours or so), but I don't mind that if the song selection is varied.

Deep Tracks, XM's equivalent to The Vault, is definitely less repetitious. But that comes at the expense of hearing a large number of songs that you might not be familiar with or care for very much. They have a cool feature each year where they'll play pretty much every song in their catalog in alphabetical order. The play list usually winds up being in the range of 5000 songs, which is enormous. I'd guess that The Vault's playlist is less than half that size.

For an interesting comparison of the two, see this thread.

Ya I agree with the repeats and the top 20 hits for the artists. I just looked up ozzy osborne to see how many times they have played his songs and its everyday on the same 3 or 4 channels. Go ahead and do a song seek here http://www.siriusbackstage.com/songseek.php and see how many times ozzy gets played and what songs they have played, or george thorogood. Ugh lets open up the playlist people. Sorry I know im beating a dead horse but just my thoughts. Buzzsaw and hair nation gets my vote.
