Default There will be a Prog Hour on Hard Attack

Jose did mention on his show yesterday that there will a "power" hour daily. He said to stay tuned to the website for more details. Nothing posted as of yet.

DAILY!!! Wow! That rules. I figured it would be weekly like Contact High. Just as long as it's later than 4 pm I'm good, since I can't listen at work.

I'd rather hear Contact High daily, but a prog metal show will be cool.

What will be played in the power hour? All new mainstream stuff that you hear repetively throughout the day (just being a little synical - repeats don't really bother me on HA cause I can never get enough metal) or, or, or, just an hour of kick ass, headbangin, ripping metal, not tied to any hit list or corporate directive?

I don't think any bands on that show would be "mainstream." That genre isn't mainstream at all unless you live in Germany or Japan.

Hopefully we won't be hearing the trendy Rammstein or other groups of the like.

For sure they will be playing: Symphony X, Dream Theater and In Extremo. I would also think Nightwish, Fates Warning, The Gathering, Therion, Into Eternity, Savatage, and maybe Kings X.

Don't you think we need different Rammstein tracks into the mix.

Yes, I would like to hear more Rammstein tracks. I heard In Extremo the other day. First I thought they were Rammstein but then the lead singer didn't sound right.

I find Nightwish kind of odd, I love Tarja's voice and their music has a hard edge to it but it doesn't seem to fit into any contemporary genres. Just as Lacuna Coil, and Evanescence, and I think I have heard other groups along these lines that I can't recall their names. I have to say that I like these kinds of groups where the female lead has a very prominent voice in front of a heavy edge of music.

I think I would definitely stick them in Goth category and I wish Sirius would play more of them.

There are some bands that play a new style of music in the Netherlands and Belgium which is kind of like Rammstein that I heard once but I can't think of what its called or their names.

Hard Attack plays Lacuna Coil but I think that is only due to the popularity of Comalies and same goes for Nightwish and their popular album Once. Both these artists have excellent back catalogs in my opinion.

Belgium has a large underground scene that gets recognition in Europe but not in America. Maybe you'll see the band in this list:

http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip...924/bands.html

And Tom Rock just confirmed on the air that the Prog Hour is coming!

eh i dont really think a prog hour fits into a metal station.. yes, there is lots of prog & metal that combine... but im just not into a lot of prog/prog metal... i think a Prog hour would be better for a classic rock station...

Nonetheless, some prog metal bands i DO enjoy:

Fates Warning
Crimson Glory
Watchtower
Pain of Salvation
some Queensryche, not a big fan but I like some of their stuff
Kings X

Dream Theater is one band I can take or leave.. they're good when they're heavy, but i dont like their long 20-minute prog songs

That's what progressive rocks is all about. But I do rrecognize that those songs are not for radio

BeyEhmVey actually Nightwish falls under the category of Shymphonic Power Metal, I advise you to listen to Rhapsody and Kamelot, the singers are male but is the same concept.

I've been asking for this show for over a year, I've been so busy at work that I haven't had the time to check the board, so I just found out.

I can mention a lot of bands on that genre, been a follower of prog rock for years. Everyone knows Dream Theater, but there's a whole lot more and some of them very heavy as Zero Hour and Spyral Architect both US bands.
