Default Folktown was better

How can they claim Coffehouse as a sub for Folktown? Coffeehouse has nothing to do with folk. I miss the good folk music and DJ's.

No channel can ever replace any other. Each channel stands and falls on its own. Coffee House is a great channel that stands on its own. It will prove to be one of the more popular channels over time.

Default folktown/coffeehouse

Coffeehouse may be popular, but it was promoted on the Sirius brochure "if you liked Folktown you will love Coffeehouse." Not so. As others have pointed out, one of the great thing about Sirius was its diversity-now there is nothing like what Folktown was to a lot of us. I for one am going to check out XM "Villaage". My subscription to SIrius runs out in November and I'm not sure I will re-up. I would like to hear that Sirius would consider reinstateing some form of old/contemporary/ethnic folk; wouldn't have to be Folktown.

I agree it's not a replacement. It doesn't mean that some that loved folktown won't enjoy Coffe House, but it certainly isn't the same thing. We went through this same thing with a channel named Soundscapes and they said that Chill was a good replacement. They too were different enough to not fill the niche for those that wanted new age music. But with letter writing, phone calls, emails and posts on this website, they reversed course and just gave us Spa73 which is really like getting Soundscapes back.

Good luck, if enough of you send letters, and let them know about your displeasure, they might reverse course on this channel also. Of course there are no guarantees.

It's an OK channel, but it's not a suitable replacement for Folktown. Sirius has created this new channel at the expense of an entire genre. OK, they toss us a bone every now & then, but I have to listen to Harry Connick Jr. in order to hear a folk artist every now and then. No offense to those who like the new channel. To each his own, but I'm dissatisfied.

I'm a new user, so please excuse the lame question... What can't I find the page that will allow me to cast a vote for the poll at the beginning of this thread?

OK, but where? The only other poll on Siriusbackstage that I've seen showed up with radial buttons that could be selected. The only place I see this poll is a listing of the current results, displayed at the top of every page on the forum. Operator error, I'm sure, but???

That indicates to me it thinks you have already voted. Because the only time that has ever gone away where I couldn't vote was after I had. Maybe you selected a choice and didn't mean to submit but did without realizing it.

The reason that you can't vote is because the poll has expired. It appears that the poll had a 7-day time limit. I didn't vote on it at all and it shows the voting results.

Well there you go, most people don't put a time limit. Thanks for the heads up.

I really enjoy this station, but saying that it's a replacement for Folktown? Uhhhh, I don't think so.

I like it so far, but it's starting to become the "Norah Jones and Indigo Girls" channel.

Default Jazz House

This is more of a Jazz club than a coffee house.

Nice stuff (sometimes) but what the folk ???
