Exactly. Finding music in the morning was hard. Not to mention commercials and very limited playlists. :\

Limited play list, although my local is damn cool. Too many tattoo commercials and just diversity. Sirius is unstoppable. No where on or OFF the planet can you find Hard Attack and add to that you can listen to Octane change a few channels over and get Old School hip hop or New Age.

KNAC was privately owned and was never part of a conglomerate. Fred Sands sold the sation back in late '94 to Invesora who changed the format to Taco Tunes (As if L.A. need another station playing Taco Tunes). PURE ROCK 105.5 kNAC signed off the air in April of '05. Gary Price was the 2nd coolest boss I ever had when I worked there.

Yes! I remember when those arrived in the promotions office back 1990. Mine is riddled with holes, but I still have it.

That's how all FM AOR Stations are no matter what city or market you live in. They're all owned by either Clear Channel, Infinity, or J-COR. They all have the same formats and they all play the same songs. It doesn't matter weather it's 94.9 WZTA in Miami or 105.3 KIOZ in San Diego. They're all the same.

Default Sirius over FM station

The stupid morning shows that had more talk than music and 45 minutes of commercials to 15 of music an hour during peak times.

It was easy - no favorite rock station...!

Haven't heard good FM since the heyday of KTCL in Ft Collins, Colorado from about 1975 - 1982...what a station - they offered everything - jazz, blues, reggae, obscure rock, folk, country rock, acoustic. Incredible format. KBCO in Boulder was pretty good at that time too, but KTCL was #1.

Every now & then Fort Smith would get a pretty good metal/rock radio station. They would last for a year or two and then they'd change formats or disappear completely. Most recently, KERX 95.3 started out as a metal/rock station that played both classic & modern metal. But within the last year, they've moved to playing just modern rock. I expect them to be a top 40 pop station by next summer. So picking up Sirius was my only option for good radio.

The sad thing is, it looks like the same thing happening to XM radio. Demographic profiling should be outlawed. After all, it is why prime time TV sucks so much.

OH this is sooooo true. Seems like most radio stations eventually go with the kiddy hit pop crap format.

But what the FM station owners dont understand is, those kids listening to the kiddy hip hop music doen't_buy_automobiles or 99% of the adult advertising ads played on these stations. And soon, the station blows away in the wind with the rest of them once the advertisers realize they been lied to and their ad's really are not working.

Here in chicago we had 2 great rock stations Rock 103.5 and the best of rock 103.5 blaze. Then we had zrock 106.7 late 80's. Recently 94.7 the zone was active rock thet changed formats liked the others. Early to mid 80's chicago had 95.5 wmet the met played hardrock/heavymetal also. Bottom line here in chitown a good rock station does not last to long.

Sadly, there is only one station playing new rock in New York City, 92.3 K-Rock, Howard Stern's station. Even worse, they decided to go an all talk format starting next January, leaving me with no choice but to swtich to satellite if I wanted to listen to my music!

Mine is still in one piece. At a future gig, we need to both wear it and be clones
