Default Patti Smith at CBGB's

I am listening to this right now and I heard Patti say something like "The Cable Radios" are great. One has Bob Dylan and the one she listen to has Sh*t head on it. I was curious who she meant. Was it Howard Stern? But I think she had been on his show in the past. Maybe he did something to piss her off..

Anyone who heard the rant... Let me know what you think?

Thanks,
CZ

I didn't hear that but thanks for the heads up, I just tuned in to catch Patti singing "Sonic Reducer". Did she just say Flea is playing with her? Wow, I'm reliving my punk childhood. Great stuff. But she called Stern a shithead? Euuww, cunty.

Patti Smith is an ugly old woman. CBGB's is a toilet.

But isn't that supposed to be part of the "charm"?

I'm sorry I never made the trip to visit such an important piece of rock history.

AS far as what some one looks like I guess we all have our own options on that one, but I personally think Patty Smith is a very, very cool lady.

Saw her in concert and she ROCKED! To you Ms.

CBGB's was great in the mid '70s... The Ramones, Blondie, Televison, Patti Smith, Talking Heads...it really was the birth-place of punk. By the '80s it was already living on its reputation more than actually being a great club. That bathroom downstairs wasn't "punk" it was just gross! Except for the hardcore matinees thay had (and the very early days), CB's took a back seat to venues like Irving Plaza, The Ritz, The Peppermint Lounge, Danceteria, etc. when it came to checking out new rock bands in NYC. I remember at the radio station I worked at all the clubs gave us "tickets" to give out to all their shows. They were of course really just a spot on the guest list. And every week listeners who won a chance to see a show at CBGB's would later call in to say that they had to pay to get in because the doormen couldn't find the guest list! I'd call Hilly, he'd be all apologetic, and the same thing would happen the next week, over and over until finally, we stopped the CBGB give-aways to avoid disappointing future "winners".

I totally agree with you! You could walk into CBGB not really knowing anyone, and by the time the night was over, everyone, roudy or not was your friend. Towards the end, it was like an old person so beyond needing a face lift you really didn't want to look their way.

BUT when it was new, it was "all that glitters" and yes it was the parent of PUNK.

When the groups came together to try to salvage CBGB, there was a little spark left, but I guess not enought.

WayneEdwards, may I quote you, "Thanks for the memories CBGB"
