Default Van Halen reunion tour in 2007

looks really good, but no michael anthony? who the hell wants to see wolfgang on bass?

MORE ON THE VAN HALEN 2007 TOUR:
This in over night from Billboard.com, adding to the recent Van Halen news:
November 09, 2006, Jonathan Cohen, N.Y.
"Eddie Van Halen has tapped his 15-year-old son, Wolfgang, as the replacement for Michael Anthony in Van Halen, a spokesperson confirms to Billboard.com. Father and son, along with Eddie's drummer brother Alex, have been rehearsing for a 2007 tour, but it is unknown who will serve as the band's vocalist.
Rumors continue to swirl that David Lee Roth will be back in the fold for the first time in more than 20 years. Roth told Billboard.com in May that he hadn't seen Eddie Van Halen in "a couple of years" but that he was up for reuniting with his old mate.
"I see it absolutely as an inevitability," said Roth. "To me, it's not rocket surgery. It's very simple to put together. And as far as hurt feelings and water under the dam, like what's-her-name says to what's-her-name at the end of the movie 'Chicago' -- 'So what? It's showbiz!' So I definitely see it happening."
No details have been provided about Anthony's departure, although Van Halen knocked the bassist for aligning himself with Sammy Hagar during a September appearance on "The Howard Stern Show."
"I got no problem with these guys, but they're billing themselves as the other half of Van Halen," he said. "My brother is the other half of Van Halen. They're out there selling hot sauce and tequila and playing all my songs. It doesn't bother me. It just makes them a cover band."
As for the musical acumen of Wolfgang, he enthused, "If I excel at the speed of sound, he excels at the speed of light. This kid is just a natural."
As previously reported, Van Halen is one of nine acts on the ballot for the 2007 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction.

As long as DLR is actually on vocals for that tour, count me in! I could care less about Michael Anthony. He always seemed like an "average, at best" bassist to me. He did offer up great background vocals in concert, as well as good lead vocals on "Somebody Get Me a Doctor." But his extended bass solo was always nothing short of a snooze-fest

EVH has always had some pretty crappy things to say about Michael Anthony. H slammed him pretty good in an interview when Fair warning was coming out. Nope, not the best bass player, not even close really, but must be good enough for VH to keep him in the band all these years. At any rate, I would love to see the band with Roth in it again.

Most of this information was also included on the Howard Stern show a couple of months ago, and it seems as the news is just now filtering around.

Personally I am a Hagar fan, I love the Red Rocker but DLR kicks ass too. A Van Halen reunion has been talked about for quite some time, when I see it I'll believe it. I wonder how many arena's they'd sell out if they did reunite......

Van Halen needs to hang it up now! (They actually needed to do so back in 1996).

There are some undeniable truths:

1. Eddie is one of the greatest guitarists of his time.
2. Van Halen was one of the greatest rock bands of it's time.

I believe we can all understand the breakups, and reunions, and rehirings of lead singers, but hasn't it gone far enough? Isn't it now just a sideshow of one of the greatest rock bands trying to relive it's glory days?

It doesn't matter if you liked how Michael Anthony played the bass, it's the band itself. Hell, since you are REHIRING Diamond Dave and firing Michael Anthony, how about you boys start playing Chemical Brothers type music or add some nu-metal to it?

It's getting really pathetic. These guys needed to retire long ago instead of trying to relight the fire that once was. I'd rather see the Rolling Stones play in their 70s and 80s than see a "Van Halen reunion" ERRRRRRRRRRRR Van Halen with DHR for the third time, less the oriignal bassist that has been with them since 1978.

Sick.

I love Van Halen only with DLR. But Diamond Dave always seems to f- it up with his mouth. He can't help it. It's hilarious how much they all hate each other...

Sammy is not real Van Halen. While I will admit some of the songs they put out with Sammy were good, it was still nothing compared to DLR on lead vocals. I saw Sammy and Michael Anthony over the summer and it was a good show. I really want to see the real VH with DLR on lead vocals, those were Van Halen's greatest years. I would definitely not miss a Van Halen reunion with Diamond Dave.

I love both the Dave and Sammy versions of Van Halen..and even the VH3 album with Cherone has quite a few good moments.

Oddly enough, the VH concert I saw with Gary Cherone on lead vocals was better than any of the shows I saw with Sammy on lead vocals. It was a pretty even mix of DLR and Sammy-era songs, which was cool to hear. The Sammy shows were always almost exclusively filled with Sammy songs, almost as if the DLR-era didn't exist.

If its DLR, who's going to be playing Banjo?

Van Halen was great back in the day, It was downhill after Sammy got there (although For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge is my favorite album of that era), not sure I'd want to see what's left of VH but then that's just me.
