These discussions are great because it shows how many of us really enjoy the 80's Hair Band erra, and we always enjoy posting our ideas and suggestions about HN.

XM starts off by simply not offering this style of music and say there is a lack of interest for a channel like HN.. I simply say look at this thread and others that point out everyones interest in the 80's rock music... So please keep those post coming!!!

Now back to another 7 hour day with Hair Nation..
Not everyone is as narrowminded as you when it comes to musical tastes. There are many more songs that should be played by the "billboard" artists on Hair Nation as you put it. I mean Judas Priest has many other great songs besides "Another Thing Coming" and "Living After Midnight" or "Breaking The Law". The same goes for many of the other "billboard" bands...Hairnation is just to shallow in the playlist which, makes it sound like it's FM counterpart...minus the commericals of course which honestly, if there were a real metal station that had commericals, I'd listen to that instead. With all the talent they have at Sirius, you would think they could get the music right. They should rename HN to Bon Jovi Nation.

I just think it ROCKS that Sirius has a channel like Hair Nation and XM_DOES_NOT.

Those looking between the two, you will find many here who have dumped XM because of the lack (or none of) a channel dedicated to 80's hair metal rock music...

Now back to my morning cup of coffee and my harmon/karkon rocken to Y&T!!!

Happy New Year to all those long haired, Rock concert addicts, of the 80's..

I used to listen to HN a lot when I first got my Sirius hook-up a year and a half ago. I was disappointed in the boring song selections, and repetition of songs by the same 10 bands, but every once in a while, they'd play a cool song that I forgot about. I agree with a previous poster, that they should play deeper album cuts from a lot of the albums they play, and not just the hit single over and over. If you have to play Def Leppard, at least give us some album cuts from High & Dry instead of "Pour some sugar on me" 100 times.

I have to say, I have been listening lately to HN, and they seem to have improved a bit as far as changing the playlist a bit. I hope they continue in this direction, seems like most fans of the channel want that.

Default Playlist

I've been on Sirius for a week or so. Just as a curiosity, I'm making a list of the Hair Nation playlist as I listen, to see how quickly the playlist turns over, and how deep it is on various bands. It's interesting so far.

Welcome drwho to the Hair Nation freenzy!! We are all 80's rockers and always welcome the newbie HN listeners..

HN normally will rotate the same song twice a day and skip a day or so with it.. You normally will hear the same band each hour but with another one of their top billboard hits.. Great stuff.

Welcome on board and as always... Welcome to the party on ch 23.

I listen to Hair Nation almost everyday. And, while I do enjoy it, I feel there is also some repetitiveness going on with a lot of bands as far as songs go even if I do love the song. I sometimes and sit there going, "Man, I do like this song, and band, but I wished they would play something a little more obscure than the well known songs."

My biggest gripe though, for example, when I was listening for a couple of hours a few nights ago. In that span of 2 hours, I heard 2 songs by Ratt, Warrant, Def Leppard, Bon Jovi, and a couple of other bands. I thought, at least to my understanding, that bands could only be played once after so and so time. But maybe I read that wrong.

I still like the station though, and will continue to listen regulary.

Also, I'd like to point out that Testament has other songs besides "The Ballad" that you could also play.

JewelThrone pretty much sums up my thoughts on HN as well. I think they need to go a little deeper on some albums and not play the same artists so often in a short time frame.
That being said - you're never going to satisfy everybody.

Me and the wife partied all night to hair nation! Last night the house was rockin'. She wasn't into hair bands in the 80s since she was like 5. But she loves Darren and Paul.
